Developer and Publisher Top Hat Studios have recently released “Devious”, a real time dungeon crawler with visual novel-style story interactions. As of July 26th, the game has gone live at Steam and Nutaku with a 10% discount, available until August 2nd.

Devious’s story follows four reluctantly chosen heroes in a fragmented world on the brink of war, thanks to both religious and political tensions between governing nations. With their abrupt arrival and a journey forced upon them, each heroes’ special interests begin to seep through the cracks of their weak resolve.

However, as our heroes immerse themselves further in their journey, they begin to question even themselves as outside forces begin to show their faces, adding another level of puppetry and manipulation to their already reluctant quest. In their shattered world, amid rising tensions and threats of war, who will be able to emerge victorious?

Some features include:
-Story Mode & Gameplay Only Modes. These modes present the ability to play the game as a visual novel and skip gameplay segments, or turn off the story and play the game solely for its levels.
-40+ Levels of Gameplay
-4 Different Playable Characters, each with their own style of gameplay and unique story
-Old School FPS style graphics mixed with Dungeon Crawling style gameplay
-Visual Novel-style storytelling between levels
-An estimated 20-30+ hours of gameplay, across 4 different stories estimated at 4-8 hours long each
-A mix of old school art for gameplay segments with a beautiful painted style for story segments

Following Steam’s recent policy, content has been cut form the game to make it suitable for the platform, but the developer is offering a free patch to restore 18+ scenes on their website; http://tophat.studio/portfolio/devious/
