Commodore 64 as an Android phone?! That’s right gamers, the original Commodore 64 Computer may be gone, but it’s never been forgotten. Amongst the love’s and lost greats of the 80’s lays the Commodore 64 computer, in all its immaculate glory. Earlier this year we were teased with the prospect that the Commodore 64 could come back if it reached its funding goal from private donations. It has, and we’ve got even bigger news for you.

The Commodore Pet is an Android phone that’s being launched in next week in the following European locations: Italy, France, Poland, and Germany. It’s being branded and marketed with the Commodore logo, and will come with C64 and Amiga emulators built into the OS. The phone’s Italian manufacturer Commodore Business Machines Limited bought the mobile rights to the Commodore name and is seeking to bring classic C64 and Amiga games to the phone as well.

The original Commodore 64 was bested by home PC and gaming consoles in the late 80’s to early 90’s—but it still holds some of the best nostalgic value next to the NES and Pong. If you’re in Europe don’t forget to grab this phone while it lasts as it will become a quick collector’s item. There are no plans to launch in the US as of yet, but fans should remain hopeful, if unlocked it could be imported and sold through carriers soon enough.
