Apple is finally giving its fans what they want out of their iPhones, in the form of expanded freedom. Until now, Android devices were the only ones besides the Windows phone that allowed emoji’s, and third-party developers to create works on their platforms. That’s all over now, because Apple has just announced new possibilities with iOS 10 (iOS 10 Messages).
In addition to having access to emoji, with the new rich links feature. You have the ability to see a preview of the link in your received message. Whether it’s a video or picture being sent, you’ll see a preview of it in your message app in the form of a small video or preview. That´s just the half of it though, because there’s more!
The improved messenger will make emoji 3x larger than before, highlight words that can become emoji with the tap of your finger or thumb, or automatically add emoji in place of words as seen with the windows phone. You also have the ability to hide messages with invisible ink (it makes your messages glittery until they’re swiped to be revealed). Alternatively, you can hide messages with pictures to set up for a big reveal, such as a surprise or gift.
Users can now send fully handwritten messages, reveal full-screen animations for message effects like happy new year, or happy birthday, and send animated emoji to emphasize your shame or sincerity for apologizing or happiness. Third party developers will be able to add support for the messenger app on the Apple store, which is a torn in the right direction as most of Apples apps are premium as on Android, they’re free. Well, at least to a certain extent.
So, when will all this goodness be made public?
Well, iOS 10 is now available to registered developers in a pre-release beta. Members of Apple’s public beta program will be able to install the software in July, while iOS 10 will officially launch to the public this fall (most likely in late September). So it looks like Apple aims to win in the Game of thrones with iOS 10. And with a new iPhone on the horizon, it’s pretty clear it’s competitors will have to step their game up very quickly.
We’ll update you as more develops on this story.
