Star Wars is still throwing new surprises our way and the “The Force Awakens” is nearly a month away! Even so, J.J. Abrams hasn’t let a single detail slip from his guise, and fans are on the edge of their pre-ordered seats for the opening credits. It would appear, we finally have a slither of an answer about our newest anti-hero Kylo Ren.
According to a photo shared from Reddit, Kylo Ren’s Crossguard Lightsaber is one unit. The quillions aren’t actually separate phase inductors as some fans believed. They’re vented from the main blade into the guards. This could serve as a central ventilation system to keep the Lightsaber from overheating during combat, or to keep the phase strong on harsh terrain such as Hoth. From what we gathered in the trailers, and J.J. Abrams himself, Kylo Ren isn’t a Sith lord—but that doesn’t mean he won’t use their teachings.
Although his goal may be to use the teachings of Darth Vader to continue his legacy, Kylo Ren might be surprised to discover the truth about the end of Darth Vader’s life. Lastly, if Luke is included in this movie, we probably won’t see him as often as fans are hopeful for. We may only see him in a few flashback scenes, or one clip entirely. Keeping fans aloof about Mark Hamill’s involvement on the project is a genius move. It keeps fans excited for the movie and characterization of the present cast—not one person singularly.
We want to know what you’ll be doing for the Star Wars episode Vll premiere, let us know in the comments!
