Peter Parker will be the next Spider-Man. Marvel is busy at work trying to find a teenage 15-16 Peter Parker for their high school set Spider-Man film, and that’s one of the best things fans can look forward to.
The runner-up, is that we’ll see the character in a solo cameo in Captain Amerca: Civil War, setting him up for his solo movie sometime in 2017.
The biggest concern for many fans is that we’ll receive another re-hashed origins story from Marvel about a teen who was bitten by a radioactive spider bite.
Marvel has reassured fans that with this newest Spider-Man film this will not be the case.
In fact this version of Peter Parker will already be a super-powered teen swinging through the streets of New York trying to make a difference.
Speaking with Craveonline, Marvel head of production Kevin Feige shed light on how we’ll be introduced to our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man this time around:
“In Spider-Man’s very specific case, where there have been two retellings of that origin in the last whatever it’s been – [thirteen] years – for us we are going to take it for granted that people know that, and the specifics.”
“It will not be an origin story. But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers.”
“There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, you just don’t know it yet. [Laughs]“
What we can come to expect from the newest Spider-Man flim in one of three great things:
No origins story
We don’t need to worry about hearing an origins story for Peter Parker, instead we’ll most likely see his adventures as he’s still figuring out crime fighting. He’ll also see him already being a normal teen, and going through the trials of highschool life.
Flash Thompson, Gwen Stacy, and Mary Jane could all be important factors for Peter’s development. Or we could be introduced to a neutral passing of their involvement in the movie entirely.
Original costume:
One important thing to note about this Spider-Man is that he’s original. He will have a homemade costume that we’ll remember, and could also be friends with some of the superheroes we already know in the Avengers.
It’s important to know that Tony Stark (Iron Man) designed and created a high tech suit for Spider-Man at one point to help him in the Marvel Civil War comic arc.
Warning Spoilers!!!
For those unfamiliar, the Civil War arc it involved Captain America opposing the “Mutant registration act,” while Iron Man supported it. Spider-Man was caught in the middle, while the X-men took a neutral stance within the ordeal.
Due to propaganda and government fueled campaigns the opposing sides eventually went to war—which resulted in Captain America being killed by Crossbones, and Agent Carter marking the conclusion of the war.
In the Aftermath of the Civil War, Tony Stark was appointed the director of S.H.I.E.L.D, and created the Avenger’s Initiative, and installed his own team of Avenger’s composed of The Mighty Avengers.
First major villain introduced
Depending upon what we end up with being installed in the first Spider-Man film we can expect certain villains to show up. In the last decade, there are several villains we haven’t seen—or heard of. Honestly, Sandman, Doc Oct, and Venom are all great villains, but there are so many more that would have made more interesting prospects.
The Vulture, Rhino, Scorpion, and even The Shocker could have made appearances—and still can. Venom and Anti-Venom would be great targets as well. Once referenced a simple cameo would be inevitable or a soft introduction.
I would like to imagine we’ll be getting more information on how this could all play out as the ball begins rolling soon enough.
There’s no telling what direction the new Spider-Man film would end up in, and who knows Madame Web could even show up to provide insight. If the film does follow the Civil War arc as it appears to be pointing.
We can expect a lot of great action, and fighting among our favorite heroes. Who will stand above the rest is completely in the air at this point.
What do you think should happen in the new Spider-Man movie? Let us know in the comments!
