“Real” female Gamers Vs Twitch attention sluts
Well, well, If it isn’t Mr. deja vu again. Please allow me to explain what I’m talking about. You see, back in November last year I wrote a post about Twitch and female Gamers. Well, to be exact, it concerned female Gamers that is half naked in their Twitch streams. And now (almost one year later), it´s once again time for the very same topic and problem. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but I do remember that people objected and stated that it was very rare for Twitch banned any of these “female Gamers“, simply because they make too much money out of them.
However, it seems like both male and female players have gotten fed up by this kind of behavior as of recently. And I can understand that. Because not only do these females give other “serious” female Gamers a bad reputation, but they’re also ruining the Twitch scene (at least in my opinion). Don´t get me wrong now. I have nothing against sexy and beautiful female Gamers and Streamers, but it´s one thing to be sexy, and another to be sluty (a certain miss Zombi Unicorn called me out when I brought this subject up in January this year).
Speaking of which, I noticed just now that Twitch has updated their “rules of conduct” policy a couple of months ago (2015-05-27). So this is what the Twitch policy looks like right now
“Self destructive behavior: In theory, playing video games is one of the safest activities one can possibly engage in. Don’t ruin this by harming yourself physically, drinking excessively or endangering yourself in any way while broadcasting.
Sexually explicit acts or content: Nudity can’t be a core focus or feature of the game in question and modded nudity is disallowed in its entirety. Occurrences in game are okay, so long as you do not make them a primary focus of your stream and only spend as much time as needed in the area to progress the game’s story.
Adults-Oriented games: All games rated Adults Only (AO) by the ESRB are not permitted for broadcast on Twitch. For a complete list of games explicitly prohibited, please refer to our List of Prohibited Games.
Dress…appropriately Nerds are sexy, and you’re all magnificent, beautiful creatures, but let’s try and keep this about the games, shall we?
Wearing no clothing or sexually suggestive clothing – including lingerie, swimsuits, pasties, and undergarments – is prohibited, as well as any full nude torsos*, which applies to both male and female broadcasters. You may have a great six-pack, but that’s better shared on the beach during a 2-on-2 volleyball game blasting “Playing with the Boys.”
* If it’s unbearably hot where you are, and you happen to have your shirt off (guys) or a bikini top (girls), then just crop the webcam to your face. Problem solved. We sell t-shirts, and those are always acceptable. #Kappa” – Twitch, rules of conduct
With that said, where should Twitch draw the line between “okay” and “not okay”? And what are your thoughts on female streamers that dresses and acts inappropriate in their streams?
