***Update 1 – 2016-10-07 – 19:00 CEST***
I honestly didn´t think that Gizmodo would go after Palmer Luckey (the founder of Oculus Rift) a second time (Gizmodo´s first article was called “Palmer Luckey, Millionaire Founder of Oculus Rift, Loves Donald Trump and Dates a Gamergater“). As I thought that the first backlash against them would have been enough for Gizmodo to rethink their actions. Well, I was wrong. As Gizmodo´s William Turton published a new “article” about Luckey named “Where Is Oculus Founder Palmer Luckey?“, which basically is nothing more than a “street journalism” and “Gawker Stalker Map” kind of piece. I mean, seriously Gizmodo? “Have you seen Luckey? Send me an email at [email protected]” In what universe would that sound sane to write?
Furthermore, why is Gizmodo so eager to continue to go after Luckey yet again? Because in my opinion, Gizmodo makes it sound like they are going after the Hitler of VR-tech (or something like that). In the matter of fact, from my point of view, it looks like they are trying to pull off a character assassination of Luckey…And to make matters even worse, Gizmodo is now asking the public for information about his whereabouts (I found that part to be both disturbing, disgusting and very unprofessional).
Well, I don´t know about you, but I think Gizmodo is just as bad as Gawker (Vice and Motherboard aren’t much better either). So much so that I actually thought about that one time when Jimmy Kimmel talked about Gawker´s stalker app (you can watch the video on the matter down below) when I heard about Gizmodo´s second article about Luckey. So, yeah, I´m not impressed by how Gizmodo goes about with their so-called “journalism”. Nevertheless, I hardly doubt that Gizmodo will back down on their hit piece articles about Luckey. As it seems like they are trying their very best to soil his name.
And with that said, what´s your take on this matter? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!

Hey, want to hear a joke? A website that has a history of condemning GamerGate for their nonexistent harassing of women in the industry harasses a female member of GamerGate until she is run off social media. Yet they do not see anything wrong with it. So what makes this person, Nikki Moxxi so important? Well, in context of GamerGate, she is very vocal about her support. She occasionally cosplays as Vivian James, the mascot of GamerGate. Outside of the industry, she dates Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus Rift, and she is a Trump supporter.
The article in question comes to us from Gizmodo. Gizmodo’s article: “Palmer Luckey, Millionaire Founder of Oculus Rift, Loves Donald Trump and Dates a Gamergater”, starts by saying that Luckey: “is a strange guy—the type who argues with his customers on Reddit and casually cosplays as My Little Pony characters. Turns out, he also appears to be an active supporter of Donald Trump and the alt-right, and in a long-term relationship with an avid Gamergater”. Now, Luckey has told people that he supports Gary Johnson, the third party’s Libertarian, as such, claims of being an Alt-Right are incorrect.
Being the pinnacle of journalism that Gizmodo has always been, they decide to start listing a number of personal choices he’s made on social media, including liking Trump tweets, GamerGate tweets, and being a fan of memes. Because, as we all know, if you like anything that is of the wrong political scale or like anything from a group everyone else disagrees with, you must be evil and shamed.
Half-way through the article, the article completely loses the plot, and decides to start talking about the girl who Luckey is in a long-term relationship with, Nikki Moxxi. It talks about how she attacks Anita Sarkeesian and other SJWs and how she’s an avid GG supporter. The article never goes back to Luckey, the supposed topic of interest named in the title.
The audience in the comments section of the article can be seen attacking the couple for their Trump support (again, Luckey supports Johnson, but that’s completely irrelevant to Gizmodo and their audience). Why do their political beliefs matter? More specifically hers? Luckey is more expected to be berated as, if someone holds some sort of presence or media presence, they are more likely to be talked about. It doesn’t make it right, by any means, but it’s expected. Edelmann, on the other hand, is a civilian caught in this crossfire. She had a cannon turned on her and, as a result, had to run from social media completely.
Here’s what I don’t understand. Websites like Gizmodo claim to be pro-women in the gaming industry, but the moment a woman gamer announces some idea or belief that doesn’t fill the right agenda. Edelmann can’t mind her own business without her business becoming everybody’s business. Whatever happened to personal privacy? Funny story is, Neogaf has started banning people who even discuss it. Yeah, you can get upset at Edelmann all you want, but you can’t defend her or question the group’s choice in attacking her.
My heart goes out to Edelmann. In truth, I knew very little about her prior to this incident, but I can’t help but feel sorry for her. She got pulled into an SJW harassment campaign by her hair and had to flee social media as a result. Her choices are her business, and Gizmodo should feel ashamed of themselves for putting a spotlight on her and sicking their junkyard dogs on her. I hope she is able to return to social media soon, as this should have never have happened to her, or to Luckey, in the first place.
