***UPDATE 1 – 2016-05-13 – 20:02 CEST***
Well, I think it´s safe to say that today just isn´t Polygon´s day at all. And I´m not only speaking about my previous post about Polygon´s whining about not being given an advance review copy of “Doom”. No, because I´m also talking about their absolutely terrible 30 minute long gameplay video of “Doom”. And I´m not even exaggerating either, not one “tiny” little bit. In the matter of fact, people got so pissed off at Polygon´s “Doom” video”. That Polygon had to turn off both the comment and like/dislike function on their Youtube video.
And if I didn´t know any better, I would guess that it´s either Queen Anita, Jonathan McIntosh or DSP Gaming that recorded the video. Because it´s easily one of THE worst gameplay videos that I´ve seen in the last 10 years or so. And while I was watching the video I couldn´t help to think about Flavour Flav´s “But little do they know they can get a smack for that, man” line from Public Enemy´s song “Bring The Noise”, but hey. Don´t take my word for it, because you can actually watch Polygon´s “Doom” gameplay video down below. A fair warning though, the video is most likely going to be the worst gameplay video that you´ve ever seen. So try not to pee your pants out of pure laughter while watching.

Polygon gets trashed on Youtube
——————————————————–
I know that one shouldn´t laugh or make fun out of other people´s misfortune (s). However, when it comes to sites such as Polygon and Kotaku. I feel that´s it´s no sin at all when you smile while karma hits them really hard. You see, just a couple of days ago Polygon complained loudly over the fact that they didn´t get an advance review copy of “Doom”. Well, right of the bat. As you might already know, there is a good reason why big companies such as Bethesda and Ubisoft has blacklisted sites such as Kotaku (and given the cold shoulder to “others”). Even so, the real reason behind why Polygon didn´t get their advance review copy of “Doom” is the following (I bet that even “if” this wasn´t the case, then Polygon might have gotten the cold hand any ways):
“DOOM is comprised of a single-player campaign, online multiplayer, and SnapMap. After discussing, we believe all three elements are important parts of the complete DOOM experience, and are meant to be experienced as part of a complete package. As DOOM’s SnapMap and multiplayer modes both require access to a server that won’t be live prior to launch, review copies will arrive on launch day.” – Bethesda
And TotalBiscuit made a really good 25 minute long video on the matter yesterday, where he explained why there is a lack of advance “Doom” review copies. And even though I understand where TB is coming from, I still get why Bethesda (and other big companies) might end up blacklisting “some” other big Gaming sites in the future. I mean, just take Polygon. They are pretty well-known for their biased reviews (games containing sex, nudity, violence and toxic masculinity = A lower score).
And I think that´s beyond mess up, because reviews should be based on the actual game itself. Simply put, your own agendas and political beliefs should NOT affect the review score for the game (s) in question at all. And I really hope that we have done a good job on that front, because that´s how reviews should be done. Other than that, we never favor any publishers or developers, we simply tell it like it is (no matter if it´s previews, reviews or whatever).
So, yeah. You can count on us to be brutally honest with our upcoming “Doom” reviews (I will do the PC review, while Sharn will review the PS4 version of “Doom”). And speaking of “Doom”, don´t forget to join our “Doom” PC giveaway (we´re giving away three PC-keys).
With that said, what´s your take on this matter? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
