Press release:
London, December 9th 2020.
Today Safe In Our World announces the formation of a new Clinical Advisory Board, welcoming Stuart John Chuan, founder Psychologically Informed Services, Paul Fletcher, Consultant Psychiatrist and Director of Studies for Preclinical Medicine at Cambridge University, who also consulted on Ninja Theory’s Hellblade, Dr. Amiad Fredman who works in the digital Health industry, and Dany Bell a former cancer nurse who now leads on recovery and genomics for Macmillan Nurses.

Their collective expertise spans the fields of Physiology, Medicine, Nursing, Digital Health and Genomics. The Clinical Advisory Board will advise the charity on its clinical agenda, as well ensuring a clinical view is considered in articles, blogposts and relevant research projects.

“I’ve seen first-hand the wide reach and impact of videogames in representing and communicating mental illness and distress,” said Paul Fletcher, Consultant Psychiatrist and Director of Studies for Preclinical Medicine at Cambridge University. He continued.

“The horrible isolation and stigma that sufferers may experience can and should be challenged, and I see the video game industry as a potentially very powerful force for good. The mission of Safe In Our World to create and foster widespread awareness is a very positive step, and it’s an honour to be part of this work.”

Additionally, Safe In Our World is thrilled to welcome Jörg Tittel, writer, producer and director of plays, films and videogames, and Jack Morton, innovation consultant at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital as its’ newest Patrons.

Both bring valuable experience and support to Safe In Our World’s mission for global awareness, resources and benefits to those in need. Jörg Tittel and Jack Morton join the likes of Dr Jo Twist OBE, Elle Osili-Wood, Pelle Lundborg and Kate Edwards in the impressive line-up of Patrons who dedicate time to actively spread the Safe In Our World message.

Safe In Our World is also pleased to announce the success of its first Mental Health Fanatical Bundle, which sold out and saw the Safe In Our World community united to fund tailored, games-focused Mental Health CBT courses. These courses will provide much-needed mental health support at no cost to games industry professionals and gamers alike and will start to roll out in the coming weeks and months.

As the Charity heads into 2021, it continues with its goals to expand the #LevelUpMentalHealth program, which already celebrates having over 50 of the biggest gaming companies committed to the campaign in their workplace. This initiative challenges all companies within the video games industry to unite and commit to change and the charity is therefore delighted to announce that SEGA EUROPE joins as the latest partner, alongside Limited Run Games and Dambuster Studios, who add to the impressive list of global companies such as 505 Games and the Embracer Group.
