Darmstadt, GERMANY – 30th September, 2026 – Viral Digging with Friends: Indie publisher rokaplay and indie developer Mipumi Games are digging new holes later this year with A Game About Digging A Hole Together – this time, with friends! With a new plot of land, a new premise, and with up to 3 friends, players will delve even deeper into the vast expanses of their own garden. The game will be released for PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and XBOX on PC, as well as for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Despite starting as a vacation project with just a few weeks of development time by a single developer, A Game About Digging a Hole quickly went viral on social media and reached the top 30 on the Steam charts, selling over a million copies. Thus, a small, hole-filled game became a viral, multiplatform hit that captivated players around the world.

A Game About Digging A Hole Together retains the simple, addictive gameplay and gives players exactly what they want: MORE. More depth, more terrain, more tools, more secrets, more to discover, and above all, multiplayer! The core mechanics are easy to (re)learn: dig, sell, upgrade, and keep digging – but they’ve all been improved from the ground up. Over the past few months, Mipumi Games has rebuilt the game’s entire code, making it run more smoothly and reliably. The experienced Vienna-based studio has previously worked on titles such as Alan Wake 2, CONTROL, HITMAN, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

A Small Project with a Huge Impact – The original was created in just a few weeks by a single developer and is now being further developed by him and the entire team. The developer, Mipumi Games, has extensive experience in both indie and AAA gaming, which now underpins the game’s development.
Born from Solarpunk technology – The digging and voxel technologies originated in an early version of the hit game Solarpunk and have now found their true calling in this title.
Learned from the community – Following the surprise success, reviews, comments, and requests from the community were carefully studied and analyzed. Naturally, the feedback was directly incorporated into the new title!
Teamwork makes work more fun – Ever since we were kids in the playground, digging together has been a fantastic experience and now we’re taking it deeper, online and across platforms.
