The Spain-based indie games publisher SelectaPlay and indie games developer Aeternum Game Studios, are today very glad and excited to announce that they have just released the “Pit of the Damned” DLC for “Aeterna Noctis” to PC (via Steam) and consoles (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch) via digital stores.

That’s right! Players can now download the update to this long-awaited DLC and enjoy the new content for Aeterna Noctis, in addition to the performance and gameplay improvements also included.

Two new game areas have been added that expand the title map incorporating new secrets and challenges. These new levels are protected by a wide range of new enemies, from ruthless humanoid warriors to giant insects, and even creatures with unspeakable appearances…

All of them present a unique design and behavior. The rivals that the King of Darkness will have to deal with while exploring the DLC also include confrontations against final bosses, fights that promise to test players’ skills. The studio guarantees that especially beating one of these final bosses will be only possible for a few players.

The time trials are another of the great protagonists of the “Pit of the Damned”. Far from focusing all the attention on these two new areas, the developers also wanted to expand the content in the rest of the map by incorporating 12 portals to the so-called “Artificial Dimensions”, each one presenting a challenge against the clock with an interesting multiplayer and cross-platform feature.

This means that players will be able to compete against each other to highlight their name on the world podium and become the absolute champions of Aeterna Noctis. The table only shows the top 10 from around the world and from all available platforms… Will your name be among them?

The creators of Aeterna Noctis have always incorporated changes and content based on the demands of their community. Among the novelties that the “Pit of the Damned” brings, there are also 6 new gems with which we can customize our playstyle, some of them created directly from players’ suggestions.

According to the dev team, the new content included in the DLC “is organically integrated into the base game, so that both veteran players and newcomers will be able to enjoy these additions without any obstacles.” In fact, access to the new areas and some of the timed tests is possible in the early stages of the game.

The novelties that this free DLC offers go beyond that. The team has carried out a complete re-work to ensure massive performance improvements on all platforms. Each and every level of the game has been optimized to guarantee maximum graphical stability, in addition to adjusting the lighting, correcting some typographical errors, and solving other problems reported by the community. The result speaks for itself, with the arrival of the “Pit of the Damned” this is the most complete and perfected version of this amazing Metroidvania.

The Aeterna Universe continues to expand at a good pace. Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo players can now download the new Aeterna Noctis DLC for free and make room for Summum Aeterna, the prequel in Roguelite format that will be released in its final version v1.0 in September this same year. The King of Darkness and the universe in which his adventures take place are here to stay, and that is always good news!
