The Lesquin-based (France) video games company NACON and Villeurbanne-based (France) indie games developer Artefacts Studio, today announced that they have postponed the release of their upcoming turn-based tactics/strategy game “Crown Wars: The Black Prince“.

So the new PC and console (PS5 and Xbox Series X) release date has now been set to May 23rd, 2024.

This additional development time will be used to fine-tune several elements of the game, and incorporate some improvements requested by the players, in order to offer optimal gameplay that will delight fans of turn-based tactics and strategy games. Pending the game’s final release, NACON is pleased to unveil a new video explaining the organisation of the domain, the stronghold from where the player prepares for their missions.

The player inherits a domain in ruins, which they will have to restore, and develop into a prosperous estate. As the base of operations, the domain is where the player draws up their strategy for the battles ahead: recruiting and training their squad, equipping the soldiers with the weapons they need and managing their resources.

The player must then set out to defend their lands against enemy factions, and against the Order, an evil cult threatening the whole kingdom. As the player racks up victories in battle, they can rebuild and upgrade the 7 main buildings in their domain.

Crown Wars: The Black Prince is a turn-based tactics and strategy game set in a dystopian mediaeval period with added touches of dark fantasy. The game immerses players into the 100-Years War, in which several royal families are pitted against each other in bloody conflicts, with the crown of the most powerful kingdom in the West at stake.

Yet besides these dynastic struggles, players must also confront the Order, an occult, malevolent organisation which is sowing chaos across the kingdom, and whose forces wield sufficient power to change the course of history.

Crown Wars: The Black Prince will be available for PC, PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S from 23rd May 2024. The Switch version will be released shortly afterwards.
