Press release:
Lesquin, France, October 23, 2025 – During the autumn edition of the Galaxies Showcase, NACON and the studio Big Bad Wolf announced the release date for “Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss” with its first gameplay trailer. This mature narrative investigation game, which explores the Cthulhu mythos in a futuristic setting, will be released on April 16, 2026, on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Players can now register for the next playtest, which will take place from October 28 to November 4, 2025, at my.nacongaming.com.
Previously announced at NACON Connect 2025, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss returns with a release date and its first gameplay footage, unveiled exclusively at the Galaxies Gaming Showcase, a digital event that attracts over 1.5 million viewers.
In Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, the player takes on the role of Noah, voiced by Jua Amir (who previously worked on Detroit: Become Human), an agent specializing in occult cases. His mission is to investigate the disappearance of miners at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, aided by his personal AI, KEY.
KEY is equipped with a range of useful tools to assist the player in their investigation, such as a sonar for analyzing clues or revealing things that are difficult to see with the naked eye.
While exploring varied environments, both on land and at sea, Noah will face numerous riddles and puzzles that can be solved in different ways. One of the game’s iconic locations is none other than R’lyeh, the city where, according to the myth, Cthulhu is imprisoned; this location has never been depicted in a video game before.
As he progresses through the city’s maze and encounters eldritch horrors, the line between nightmare and reality begins to blur under the influence of the most powerful of cosmic creatures: Cthulhu. If he hasn’t lost his sanity by then, Noah will have to make a decisive choice at the climax of his investigation. Several endings will then become available, depending on the player’s previous actions.
Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is a narrative investigation game inspired by the universe of Lovecraft. In this frightening first-person thriller, the player embodies Noah, an agent of the Ancile, an office specializing in occult affairs, investigating the mysterious disappearance of miners in the heart of the Pacific Ocean. His research will plunge him into the depths of the immense labyrinthine prison of R’lyeh, an ancient sunken city where Cthulhu is held captive. The player and theirAI companion, KEY, will have to solve complex puzzles, make choices that will influence his destiny, and try to resist the corruption of the mind caused by the influence of Cthulhu.
Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss will be available on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and on nacongaming.com on April 16, 2026.
