Press release:
VANCOUVER, April 14th, 2025.
The Vancouver-based (Canada) indie games studio Red Hook Studios are today very happy and excited to announce that they have just released the “Secrets of the Coven” update (the second of three adventure modules for “Darkest Dungeon II”) for “Darkest Dungeon II” to PC.

Players will quest to uncover and eradicate the mysterious Coven before their subversive influence takes root. This free update adds a new Kingdoms quest, enemy faction, new mechanics & items, as well as a number of community-requested Kingdoms features, including inn storage, item selling, and more!

Secrets of the Coven releases on Steam for PC and Mac today. Console versions are soon to follow. To celebrate the release, Darkest Dungeon II is currently 50% off on Steam until April 21st, with both DLCs (The Binding Blade and Inhuman Bondage) discounted by 25% and 20%, respectively.

“Secrets of the Coven is strikingly different to the initial Kingdoms offering, Hunger of the Beast Clan. The pacing, mechanics, and quest flow all have a remarkably distinct feel, to say nothing of the enemy faction itself. Our team has pushed into new and exciting territory with this one, and we’re eagerly awaiting our players reactions!”
-Chris Bourassa, Creative Director

Kingdoms is a free game mode that introduces a fresh, reimagined structure alongside three adventure modules—starting with Hunger of the Beast Clan and now followed by Secrets of the Coven. Unlike the original Confessions mode, Kingdoms tasks players with defending the realm and a network of inns against powerful new enemy factions, including the ravenous beastmen. One more adventure module is planned for release in 2025.

Darkest Dungeon II is available on PC and Mac via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG, as well as on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S. The Kingdoms mode, along with the Inhuman Bondage DLC, originally launched on PC and Mac January 27th, 2025. The Darkest Dungeon II base game and both DLCs are currently on sale on Steam. Inhuman Bondage is headed to Xbox Series X|S on April 17th.

About Darkest Dungeon II
Darkest Dungeon II is a rogue-lite turn-based road trip of the damned. Form a party, equip your stagecoach, and set off across the decaying landscape on a last gasp quest to avert an apocalypse caused by your own failures. The greatest dangers you face, however, may come from within.

The sequel to the critically acclaimed Darkest Dungeon, the game features all new 3D visuals in the same distinctive style as the original, a new run-based road trip structure, an enhanced version of the innovative turn-based combat system, fourteen playable heroes, five regions, five end bosses, and a metagame hub (“The Altar of Hope”) with extensive persistent upgrades. Darkest Dungeon II first released into Early Access on the Epic Games Store in October 2021 and has seen a regular cadence of major content and feature updates by Red Hook with the aid of community feedback. The first DLC, The Binding Blade, was released on December 11, 2023, and the full game launched digitally to consoles on July 15, 2024, to favourable reviews.
