Press release:
Driftland: The Magic Revival“, Star Drifters’ highly acclaimed game combining elements of RTS, 4X strategy and god sim, is coming to new platforms. It will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in Q1 2020. MacOS version to be released on Friday.

“We are very happy that Driftland will be available to console players, especially since many of them are strategy games fans”, says Michał Sokolski, game designer and co-founder of Star Drifters, the studio behind Driftland.

“We will do our best to make rebuilding of the magical kingdom as comfortable and enjoyable as it is for PC gamers. The already existing command system and dynamic time control with active pause will certainly help here”.

The console version of Driftland will combine what was appreciated by gamers and critics with controls that take into account the peculiarity of controllers. The cursor known from the PC version will be replaced by an active, contextual field in the middle of the screen, which will allow the player to cast spells and construct buildings.

In Driftland, the player does not have direct control over his units, but gives them orders — which on consoles will additionally avoid tedious micro-management of subordinates. The PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of Driftland: The Magic Revival are created in collaboration with SimFabric. Their launch is scheduled for Q1 2020.

On Friday, September 20th, the macOS version of Driftland: The Magic Revival will become available on Steam! Thanks to multiplayer cross-play, Apple fans will be able to face their friends who are using Windows or Linux (Proton beta).

More about Driftland: The Magic Revival:
Driftland is a unique fusion of RTS, 4X strategy and god sim genres in a fantasy world made of a scattered world.

Player takes on the role of a powerful mage-ruler capable of moving and reshaping parts of the planet. Both game mechanics and history are based on an innovative concept of dynamic topography and issuing orders to individuals with free will.

Story:
A long war between the mightiest of ancient mages led to a gigantic cataclysm, shattering the entire planet into scattered pieces. Facing the destruction of their entire civilizations, warring parties decided to call a truce and tried to repair the caused damage.

It was, however, already too late. Using all the remaining magic resources they had, the mages cast a powerful spell and managed to keep their world, Driftland, in a relative balance. Many dark ages have passed along with the world’s magic that bonded it together.

When all seemed lost, a light of hope sparked once again: new sources of magic appeared and the whole planet began to give birth to new spellcasters.

And you have become the most powerful among them – a Mage Overlord with great power and great purpose. What fate will you bring to the planet – a new devastating conflict or world revival?

Subjects with free will, tamable wild creatures (or Dwarven aerial machines) and rich lore (with four new languages created specially for the project) are only the tip of the iceberg – the game allows you to move, terraform, create or destroy floating islands created by the cataclysm.

You can reshape the world around you, thus gaining a strategic advantage over enemies and securing your well-deserved victory!

Star Drifters is an independent game development studio based in Warsaw, Poland. The company was founded in 2014 by two industry veterans: Michal Sokolski and Krzysztof Jakubowski.

During their careers, that span nearly two decades, they’ve worked on numerous titles for all major gaming platforms and gained extensive and first-hand experience in game development and management. Prior to Star Drifters, in 2000 they founded an indie game studio called Tatanka.

Two years later, they started (as co-founders) CI Games, the company behind such games as Lords of the Fallen and Sniper Ghost Warrior. Star Drifters’ mission is to create engaging, challenging and highly replayable games that will remain in players’ memory for a long time.
