Press release:
October 1, 2026 – MicroProse and developer Chett Fitzgerald are excited to announce that Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat is available today in Early Access on Steam, putting players in control of a global industrial conglomerate spanning real-world regions, complex supply chains, international markets, and eventually much more than Earth itself.
A brand-new Early Access Launch Trailer is also available today, showcasing the scale of Factory Default – from extracting raw materials and building production chains to establishing global trade networks and pushing industry beyond the limits of the planet.
A New Kind of Industrial Strategy
In Factory Default, Earth becomes your industrial playground. Mine and farm raw resources, refine them into increasingly complex materials, manufacture advanced products, and move them across the globe to where they’re needed most.
With hundreds of resources and products to manage, players can build enormous interconnected supply chains without having to manually place every conveyor belt. Instead, Factory Default focuses on the bigger picture: where to produce, what to manufacture, how to move it, and how to turn an increasingly complex global operation into a profitable industrial empire.
But profit isn’t everything. Corporate policies, environmental impact, workforce management, global perception, research, contracts, and fluctuating markets all influence how your company develops – and what kind of corporation it ultimately becomes.
And Earth is only the beginning.
Through the ambitious Ultima Mundi Project, players undertake increasingly enormous engineering projects, from reshaping Earth to constructing a Space Elevator and Space Station, eventually opening the door to lunar industry and off-world logistics.
