Press release:
Thursday, 29th January 2026, Prague, Czechia — Extraterrestrial first-person PvE survival game, ICARUS: Console Edition, will arrive on Xbox Series consoles and PlayStation 5 on 26th February, publisher GRIP Studios, part of the GRIP Digital family, has announced today. Pre-orders for ICARUS: Console Edition have also opened, giving players the opportunity to to experience the alien landscapes with a selection of domesticated Earth-originated animals, courtesy of the bonus Pet Companions Pack DLC.

Originally developed and released on PC by Dean Hall (DayZ, Kitten Space Agency) and his Rocketwerkz studio, ICARUS: Console Edition takes players in teams of up to four to the hostile planet of Icarus, as they try to extract exotic resources while surviving its savage fauna, flora, and the very deadly skies above.

Humanity’s prospectors aren’t alone in exploring Icarus’s surface. Animal husbandry is an invaluable, intrinsic part of successfully extracting resources on the planet; different creatures transplanted from Earth during the failed attempt at terraforming, such as wolves and boars, can be tamed to provide a range of modifier buffs, including health regeneration or reduced oxygen consumption.

By pre-ordering ICARUS: Console Edition, players will receive the Pet Companion Pack DLC, featuring a selection of 11 additional animals (three new cats, fives new dogs, and three new horses) including a pug, a grey tabby, a German shepherd, a brown horse, and more. Each animal has its own levels, talent tree, as well as food and water requirements for players to maintain.

ICARUS: Console Edition features both the original base game released on PC, together with the New Frontiers Expansion, unleashing the non-terraformed, alien region of Prometheus for an additional 64km2 of terrain to explore. Prometheus includes a further three deadly biomes, a host of mutated, apex predators indigenous to the planet, more than 30 additional workshop items, together with an ability to craft 100-plus new items that make the difference between surviving or succumbing to Icarus’ threatening environments.

The New Frontiers Expansion also includes six narrative-driven missions across a single story arc, unveiling secrets lurking in the planet’s shadows.

ICARUS: Console Edition features:

An alien planet that fights back: Every element of Icarus resists humanity’s presence, with flora, fauna, and even the planet’s atmosphere, trying to drive players back into orbit.

Explore solo or in a party: Up to four players can drop onto the hostile alien world of Icarus, and strive to survive in the ultimate, uncompromising PvE experience.

Two massive maps to explore: ICARUS: Console Edition includes the base game plus the New Frontiers expansion from the start, giving players 128km2 of terrain to conquer.

Compelling progression and rewards: Begin with basic gear and advance to sophisticated tech, forge permanent upgrades with exotic matter, and master the arts of hunting, building, fishing, and survival.

New frontiers, new deadly threats: Discover new maps, mutated creatures, rideable mounts, and untapped resources on the Prometheus region in the New Frontiers Expansion.
