The indie games publisher META Publishing are today very happy and excited to announce that they have just kicked-off their 2021 edition of the Pancake Week festival via Steam:

“After months of preparations, we are proud to finally announce the META Publishing Pancake Week Festival – a celebration of Slavic culture and of the Eastern European game development scene. Throughout the event, users will be given the chance to save up to 90% on titles from over 60 Eastern European developers.” – META Publishing

The list of participating games, which will be grouped into sub-categories based on their genre, includes instant classics from 1C Company, Buka Entertainment, Owlcat Games, Alawar, and Flazm Interactive as well as newer projects from smaller studios.

As the goal of the Pancake Week is to give developers a chance to showcase their work, the event’s dedicated page will also include a few additional sections. There, visitors will find broadcasts from upcoming Eastern European releases as well as a selection of featured titles and further custom-tailored recommendations.

The META Publishing Pancake Week Festival will take place from March 8th, 2021 at 9:00 PM MSK (10 AM PST, 1 PM EST, 6 PM UTC) to March 15th, 2021 at 9:00 AM MSK (10 PM PST, 1 AM EST, 6 AM UTC) and is open to anyone with a Steam account.

Why the “Pancake Week”?
The bliny, a thin pancake made of butter, eggs, and milk – often covered in jam, honey, caviar, or sour cream – has long been a part of Slavic Tradition. As the days get longer and temperatures begin to rise, people come together to celebrate Maslenitsa. They wear colorful costumes, light bonfires, and wave the departing winter goodbye before the Great Lent!

That is where the name Pancake Week comes from. And from the more curious among you, we have an additional surprise. As you browse through the event’s pages, keep your eyes peeled. You might find a recipe for bliny any Eastern European grandma would be proud of!
