Press release:
EL SEGUNDO, CALIF. – December 18, 2025 – ReLU Games and KRAFTON, Inc. today announced that MIMESIS, its four-player co-op horror title, has surpassed one million global sales just 50 days after launching in Early Access on Steam. A new update is now live, introducing tram and gear upgrade systems, expanded Mimesis AI behaviors, and four new emotes. MIMESIS will also be 20% off during the Steam Winter Sale running today through January 5.
MIMESIS is a fast-paced co-op horror game built around an adaptive, AI-driven creature that learns from player behavior. Four players must scavenge Scrap, repair the escape tram, and coordinate under pressure while the creature mimics movements, voice patterns, and tactics in real time. The result is unpredictable encounters and emergent co-op moments that evolve every session, giving the game its signature tension and replayability.
Major Sales Milestone Reached
This milestone marks KRAFTON’s second million-seller of 2025, following the strong Early Access debut of inZOI. MIMESIS has maintained significant global momentum since launch, fueled by its unique AI-driven horror design, positive user reviews, and rapid creator adoption. The game recently reached #1 on Japan’s Steam Top Sellers, charted across major regions, and holds a “Very Positive” rating with 91% positive reviews over the past 30 days. Additionally, player-created clips have amplified the game’s AI-driven unpredictability, pushing MIMESIS to the #1 spot in YouTube’s Gaming category across multiple markets as viewers respond to its chaotic, emergent scenarios.
December Update Expands AI Behaviors and Core Systems
A new update for MIMESIS is also now available, which expands gameplay depth and co-op variety with:
Tram upgrades: New Service Station options, including Scrap-protection features and a lighthearted “Party Mode” mirror ball.
Equipment upgrades: Players can now enhance purchased gear, adding more strategic planning to loadouts.
Expanded AI behaviors: The Mimesis creature now uses a broader range of reactive behaviors and decision-making patterns, creating more dynamic and less predictable encounters.
New emotes: Four additional emotes let players communicate and coordinate more expressively.
Continued Global Expansion
MIMESIS is available at a 20% discount during the Steam Winter Sale through January 5, 2026. The game recently added Turkish and Polish localization, with more languages under review based on community requests.
Fast-Moving Development
MIMESIS’s trajectory is especially notable given its compact development model. Initially prototyped by four developers in 2024, the game entered Early Access less than a year later. With an average team size of around 20 developers, ReLU Games rapidly iterates on sharp, distinctive gameplay ideas and evolves them through nimble production.
A Fast-Moving, High-Efficiency Development Model
MIMESIS’s success is further underscored by its compact development structure. The game originated from a prototype developed by four team members in late 2024 and moved into Early Access in less than a year. With an average team size of roughly 20 developers, ReLU Games focuses on rapidly validating sharp, distinctive gameplay ideas and building them into polished experiences through an agile production approach.
MIMESIS remains in active development as ReLU Games continues refining AI behaviors, expanding content, and incorporating community feedback to strengthen long-term quality and replayability.
