Press release:
New Delhi, India – September 26th, 2017 – NASSCOM Gaming Forum today announced that Leena Kejriwal of studio, The MISSING Public Art and Awareness Campaign has secured $50,795 through a 30-day Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for her new project, MISSING: The Complete Saga. The game is an expanded version of Missing: Game For A Cause, which won the Indie Game Of The Year title at the NASSCOM Gaming Forum Awards 2016. MISSING: The Complete Saga is a reality-based role playing game set in the rural Indian countryside where players take the journey of an impoverished but brave village girl, Champa, in her fight against her nefarious circumstances, becoming a victim of trafficking for prostitution, and finding her own place in the world thereafter.

“Winning Indie Games of the Year at the NASSCOM Gaming Forum Awards 2016, was a catalyst that has helped drive the studio’s success for MISSING: Game for a Cause. By presenting the game to an international audience, we made a lot of important industry connections that allowed MISSING to reach a global audience and build upon for the next instalment – MISSING: The Complete Saga,” said designer Leena Kejriwal.

“With immersive game play that tells you the whole story of a trafficking survivor’s life, not just her escape, MISSING: The Complete Saga starts from the protagonist’s childhood and takes you full circle to her life in the village after she is rescued as a survivor. This is when you realize there is no happily ever after. Even just two weeks of abuse both emotional and physical in the dark holes of trafficking can take a lifetime of therapy and rehabilitation.”

“Leena’s prototype for MISSING: The Complete Saga – Missing: Game for a Cause, was downloaded by over 500,000 players on mobile across 70 countries and beat tough competition to win the NASSCOM Gaming Forum Awards – Indie Game of the Year in 2016,” said Rajesh Rao, Chairman of the NASSCOM Gaming Forum. “Alongside the prestige, Leena took home $4000 in prize money, all expenses paid trip to an international conference in Berlin and a Unity Pro license among other prizes. This is a great example of giving promising indies the springboard they deserve. We are excited to continue to help push India’s indies and look forward to announcing the nominees to 2017’s NASSCOM Gaming Forum Awards.”
