Press release:
At last night’s The Game Awards, Nintendo was honoured with awards for Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World, both available exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.

Donkey Kong Bananza was recognised as Best Family Game, while Mario Kart World took home the honour of Best Sports/Racing Game.

Donkey Kong Bananza is a 3D platforming action-adventure for Nintendo Switch 2 starring Donkey Kong. Harness the incredible strength of DK to smash through walls, carve tunnels with your fists, punch straight down into the ground, and even tear off chunks of terrain to swing around and throw in groundbreaking exploration. The more players smash, the more areas open up to explore. When Donkey Kong partners with a young girl named Pauline and her powerful singing talents, the duo unlock different Bananza Transformations. And the adventure continues with new challenges and limited-time events in the Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC1.

Mario Kart World puts the pedal to the metal across a vast interconnected environment. Race seamlessly across connected courses that deliver Mario Kart racing like never before as up to 24 drivers can compete in a race. Participate in the new Knockout Tour mode, where you’ll barrel through back-to-back courses and checkpoints, with no pit stops along the way. If a player doesn’t make it to each checkpoint at a high-enough placement, they will be eliminated. And in Free Roam, it’s possible to go off the racetrack and drive in any direction you wish, explore areas that pique your interest and take some photos at scenic spots with a group of friends.

Several games from Nintendo’s development and publishing partners that are available to play on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch also won awards last night, including Hades II for Best Action Game, Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles for Best Sim / Strategy Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong for Best Action-Adventure Game.

Additionally, The Game Awards saw news and reveals of multiple upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 titles from Nintendo’s development and publishing partners, including Orbitals, an intergalactic two-player2 co-op adventure set in a brand new retro anime universe, launching exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026; PRAGMATA™ from Capcom, an all-new science-fiction action-adventure with a hacking twist, launching April 24th, 2026; spine-chilling four-player online2 co-op psychological horror experience Phasmophobia, jumping onto Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026; and Out of Words from Kong Orange, WiredFly and Epic Games Publishing, a handcrafted co-op platformer adventure for two2 coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
