Press release:
June 16th, Warsaw, Poland.
The Poland-based indie boutique publisher No Gravity Games and indie games developer Sokoikan Ltd today announced with joy and excitement that their upcoming 2D 16-bit fast-paced retro platformer/fighting game “Okinawa Rush”, is now a part of the Steam Next Fest 2021 event!

And “Okinawa Rush” has joined this year’s Steam Next Fest in a big fashion since it has just kicked-off its brand-new demo and a speedrun contest as well. So if you have enjoyed the previous demos of “Okinawa Rush”, then you don’t want to miss out on any of this for sure!

Steam Game Fest is here and so is the new action-packed demo for Okinawa Rush, now with 20% more beatdown! Embark on a journey with Hiro, Shin, or Meilin, martial arts masters, who all got wronged by the Black Mantis Clan. Fight using swords, nunchakus, bo staffs, or simply with your fists, and battle through carefully crafted pixel-art environments. Take advantage of the fast, fluid combat system (jumping now improved!) and combo, juggle and parry your way through hordes of enemies. Master the game, upload your high score, and reach the top of the scoreboard! And if you’re feeling up to it, join the Okinawa Rush Speedrun Contest, where players from all around the world will try to beat the demo as fast as possible!

Play the NEW and IMPROVED demo on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/777670/Okinawa_Rush/), and share your feedback on the forums!

Okinawa Rush Speedrun Contest is an event organized by No Gravity Games where you, the players can compete in beating one of the stages as fast as possible. You enter by uploading a video of your run to youtube and sharing the link in the appropriate thread on the Steam forums. Prizes include a Steam code for the game, digital soundtrack, digital artbook, and a special box full of goodies (t-shirt, physical soundtrack, stickers)

ABOUT THE GAME:
Okinawa Rush is a retro platformer with a focus on fighting, and a combat system inspired by fighting games like Street Fighter, and a beautifully nostalgic pixel-art art style reminiscent of old Amiga games.

A Ruthless army of ninjas known as the Black Mantis clan have come to Okinawa to loot, pillage, and kill anyone that gets in their way. Above all else, they are searching for the legendary training scroll of Hiro Yashima who has honed his martial skill to a supernatural level, summoning flame and sound to vanquish his foes.

Okinawa Rush is about intense, skillful gameplay. It is also intuitive enough for someone completely new to games to be able to pick up and immediately get into the action.

Take on the role of the martial arts master Hiro, Meilin, or Shin as they face off in a desperate fight for their lives against the Black Mantis clan.

DOUBLE THE MAYHEM: Bring a friend and battle against ninjas, demons, and more in the 2-player local co-op mode of this action-adventure platformer set in a mystical, fantasy version of Okinawa.

The fast, fluid combat system, courtesy of the custom engine, brings with it many moves, combos, juggles, and an intuitive parrying system – easy to learn, hard to master.

MAIN FEATURES:

Custom-made fighting engine with unique moves for each character.
Fight with swords, nunchakus, and bo staffs.
Engaging story told with carefully crafted pixel-art cut-scenes.
Many different enemies, each with their own moveset and weapons.
Intense boss battles.
Arcade mode for those who want to jump straight into the action.
Parry any attacks, projectiles, and traps!
Upload your high scores and compete globally with other players!
Discover many secrets and hidden areas!
Play together in a local co-op mode, and heal each other to achieve victory!

Okinawa Rush is set for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox, and GOG later this year. The exact date will be announced shortly.

The NEW polished demo of Okinawa Rush is live NOW. More information about the game can be found on the official website (https://www.okrush.co.uk/), publisher’s Twitter, publisher’s Discord, and developer’s Twitter.
