Dallas, TX –April 9, 2025.
Independent publishers The Retro Room Games and Ratalaika Games, along with the development studio Two Black Cats, have announced that “Prisonela MD” is now available on SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive in pre-order at $49.99 USD.

Set in a twisted prison, Prisonela MD is a fast-paced platformer where players use parkour to conquer short, intense levels filled with deadly traps and obstacles. Each mistake warps you to a new level, requiring quick thinking and constant adaptation.

Prisonela MD is the first video game created using MD Engine, a SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive game engine which can develop games without C or ASM knowledge.

The game for SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive will contain a cartridge, an original box, and an instruction booklet. A demo version of Prisonela MD is currently available on itch.io and the full game will be published on Steam in May by Ratalaika Games.

An authoritarian regime has seized power, branding all dissidents as enemies of the state and casting them into a colossal fortress of despair – Prisonela. Here, enslaved creatures labor in twisted virtual environments, their suffering siphoned away as energy to fuel the lifestyle of the ruling elite.

But everything changes when the underground resistance strikes. In a daring act of sabotage, they plunge the prison into chaos, disabling security systems and throwing open cell doors. You awaken in the middle of this chaos, a prisoner desperate to seize the chance at freedom.

Traps and guards lurk around every corner, engineered to crush all who dare disobey. Still, you are far from alone. Other captives also break free, and by rescuing them, you forge alliances that just might tip the balance. Survival depends on quick reflexes, swift action, and the faint hope that these corridors of darkness can be left behind forever.
