Oldenburg, Germany / Vienna, Austria, January 21, 2026: Cabin boy, goblin, and chaos expert Pumuckl is ready to set sail! Developer Quantumfrog and publisher THQ Nordic are excited to officially announce the release date for the new game Pumuckl and the Crown of the Pirate King: on March 5, 2026, the red-haired goblin embarks on a swashbuckling adventure on PC and Nintendo Switch, bringing plenty of mischief along for the ride.

After all, if there’s one thing Pumuckl does best, it’s going on adventures! In Pumuckl and the Crown of the Pirate King, players can look forward to a humorous journey filled with puzzles, exploration, and the kind of chaotic antics only a true goblin could cause. In the optional cooperative multiplayer mode, players take control of Captain Krimskrams and, of course, Pumuckl himself. The digital adaptation is based on the iconic character created by Ellis Kaut, using the original Pumuckl design by Barbara von Johnson.

The game is aimed at adventurers young and old alike – fans of the original stories as well as gamers looking for a charming, family-friendly experience. Quantumfrog blends modern gameplay mechanics with lovingly crafted level design and the unmistakable humor of one of Germany’s most beloved goblins.

Pumuckl and the Crown of the Pirate King is developed by Quantumfrog in Oldenburg and published by THQ Nordic. The game launches on March 5, 2026 for PC and Nintendo Switch, with an SRP of €39.99, available both digitally and at retail. Development is being carried out in cooperation with Beta Film GmbH and Pumuckl Media GmbH, with financial support from Beta Film GmbH and funding provided by nordmedia – Film and Media Society of Lower Saxony/Bremen.

About Pumuckl and the Crown of the Pirate King
There’s always a lot going on in Master Eder’s workshop – especially when the kobold Pumuckl has to tidy up. But while tidying up, he finds a strange bottle, a ship in a bottle, and something is moving inside! With nerve-racking curiosity, Pumuckl opens the bottle containing the ship. Before he can shout “Darn bottle thing!”, the kobold is sucked into a magical vortex – directly onto the ship inside the bottle!

He wakes up in a magical pirate world that is bigger than it could possibly fit inside any bottle.
Here he meets the quirky and forgetful Captain Krimskrams, who asks Pumuckl for help: the Pirate King has cursed the ship and hides behind a magical door. Only the golden doubloons can open the door so that Pumuckl and Captain Krimskrams can face the king and have him lift the curse.

In the pirate world, travel is possible through a magical structure with doors to other worlds: tropical islands, enchanted ruins and an ancient pirate castle. Tricky puzzles, skeleton pirates, kobold traps and mini-games await Pumuckl and Captain Krimskrams everywhere. They are accompanied by the cheeky parrot Krakula, who gives helpful tips – or is amused by their misadventures.
