Renowned Japanese producer coming to Brazil to host a special panel about his career.

Sao Paulo, Brazil – June 22, 2017 – The flames of Rock’n’Roll will burn ablaze in São Paulo, Brazil! One of the guests of BIG Festival 2017 is the renowned music producer Shota Nakama, the creator of the acclaimed Video Game Orchestra, one of the largest musical concerts dedicated to videogame music in the world. He will host a special panel, on June 30th at 10am, together with Brazilian musician Antonio Teoli.

Nakama will share his experiences, answer the public’s questions and will tell the trajectory of his work and career, providing insightful tips on how to break into this industry. BIG Festival happens from June 24th to July 2nd, at Centro Cultural São Paulo, in Brazil’s largest city, and it is completely free for everyone. Hailing from Okinawa, Japan, but living in Boston, USA, Nakama is one of the most respected figures in gaming music production. With the Video Game Orchestra, he introduced the concept of “rockestra”, in which concerts are presented with an orchestra and a choir together with a rock band, where he also performs as a guitarist.

The project launched in 2008 with a small show for 150 people in Boston, and has grown successfully to become one of the most popular international videogame projects in the world, gathering huge crowds in venues like Boston Symphony Hall, Beijing Worker’s Stadium and Taiwan International Convention Center.

Nakama currently produces the Capcom Live, the official Capcom tour, launched in 2016, following the style of VGO. He also runs SoundtRec, the company he founded in 2013 which has produced, composed, orchestrated, organized, recorded and mixed soundtracks for several blockbuster franchise, such as Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Tales of Zestiria, Cytus (the best-selling music game in Taiwan), Lazer Team (indie live-action film by Rooster Teeth, the most successful cinematic crowd funding campaign), Little Witch Academia (critically acclaimed short anime that became a series of 13 episodes on Netflix), and many others.

The Brazilian musician Antonio Teoli is an awarded composer and sound designer, and one of the pioneers of the Brazilian gaming industry. He’s responsible for the soundtracks of Taikodom, Finding Monsters Adventures, Rock’n’Rails, Jelly Splash, and more.

Throughout his 15-year-long career, Teoli has composed music for more than 450 games, across several platforms, including PC, mobile, SEGA Mega Drive, SEGA Master System, and Virtual Reality. Teoli is currently working on the Brazilian game Dolmen, and on another secret project, which will be exclusively announced during the BIG Festival
