Press release:
Madrid, September 7th, 2022.
The next month, on October 21st, “TAPE“, a video game developed by BlackChiliGoat Studio, supported by PS Talents and distributed by Gammera Publishing, will be available in digital edition for PS5 on the PlayStation Store and also, in physical edition from Meridiem Games, these editions will contain improvements such as: haptic vibration, adaptive triggers, Dualsense 3D sound and native 4K resolution.

This is big news for the title, which is close to becoming a cult video game thanks to its awards. A mixture of Twin Peaks-inspired narrative, taking place in Galicia, Spain, and well-designed mechanics requiring investigating in the offline world are the two key ingredients that allowed TAPE to obtain unbeatable reviews.

A unique narrative merged with gameplay full of puzzles and enigmas. This is how the developers like to present TAPE: Unveil the Memories, a project that is already making a name for itself among the mystery-genre devotees. “It’s full of cinematographic references from classics such as The Shining and Twin Peaks”, said the design team. The story of TAPE represents the society from the 90s in Galicia and honors the classic horror movies that will influence the main character, Iria.

You must be wondering what is the storyline about. Set in an obscure Galician village, called Antumbria, in the 90s. Iria is watching the content of a VHS. Her father, a famous horror movie director, is asking for her help on the screen. After listening to the recording, Iria immerses herself in her memory, and using her father’s camcorder to navigate the memories, she will discover the hidden secrets of her family. The player and Iria will face together the truth on the other side of the camera lens.

If you are already liking the narrative, you’ll love the mechanics. To solve the puzzles, you’ll need to search outside the video game, in videos, or on real websites. Without doing this, it’s impossible to beat the game. Furthermore, using the camcorder the player can affect the objects inside the game, flashing them forward or backward, using the time to solve puzzles.

The righteous combination of mechanics and narrative from TAPE: Unveil the Memories is worth the Most Innovative Game on PlayStation Awards 2017; Best Elevator Pitch on Guerrilla Fame Festival 2019, and Best Game on Dev Contact 2018.

And the best, after a few months on PS4 and PC, TAPE: Unveil the Memories will be released on PS5.

Featured content:

A unique narrative, comparable to the greatest novel by Stephen King, can make a mystery lover’s mouth water with incredible plot twists.
Innovative mechanics: puzzles like you’ve never seen before.
A carefully designed scenery where you can feel welcomed.
Excellent music direction.
Already available on PS4 and PC.
Available in both digital and physical edition on PS5 from October 21st, it will include improvements such as Haptic Vibration, Adaptive Triggers, 3D Sound in Dualsense and Native 4K Resolution.
