Press release:
TOKYO, Japan (July 29, 2026) – Japanese publishing company Kodansha Ltd., today released the Nintendo Switch 2 version of BOKURA, a 2D cooperative platforming adventure game from indie developer tokoronyori under the Kodansha Game Lab label. BOKURA follows the story of two runaways who find themselves in alternate realities where the world around them takes on the shape and atmosphere of their unique worldviews. BOKURA is now available digitally on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, STEAM, iOS, and Android for $4.99. A special 20% launch discount is currently available for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of BOKURA through August 11, 2026.

Cross-System Play Allows Players to Find Co-Op Partners Across Multiple Platforms.

BOKURA requires players to work together and communicate with each other to play through the game. The game experience is determined by the character you choose and choices you make. Experience the different worldviews from the perspective of two young runaway boys. While one finds a world of cold machinery, the other may see the world in a more naturalistic view. BOKURA includes cross-platform play, allowing cooperative play across different platforms. Nintendo Switch 2 players can enjoy two-player cooperative play alongside players on Nintendo Switch, STEAM, iOS, and Android (Please note that both players will need to own a copy of BOKURA in order to play). A PlayStation 4 and 5 version of BOKURA is currently in development with more information to be released soon.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of BOKURA includes support for GameChat*, making communication with your partner as easy as the push of a button. If both players are not in the same physical location, voice communication is needed to complete puzzles and navigate through the game. GameChat is supported if both players have an active Nintendo Switch Online account, making for an easy system-level communication experience.

To-date, BOKURA and its sequel BOKURA: Planet have more than 1.5 million copies combined worldwide. It has been about three and a half years since the release of BOKURA, and this milestone has been reached because players around the world, transcending national and linguistic boundaries, have experienced “a story just for the two of you.” Please continue to enjoy the BOKURA series as it continues to expand globally.

News and updates for BOKURA and other Kodansha Game Lab titles can be found on their X, Bluesky, and Instagram pages.
