The Tokyo-based (Japan) indie games publisher PLAYISM and indie games developers Team Ladybug & WSS playground , are today super proud and happy to announce that their 2D exploration-heavy action game “Touhou Luna Nights” (which is a “Touhou Project” fan game), is now available for the PS5 and PS4 via PSN.

Alongside the PlayStation® release, we have also released an update for the Nintendo Switch version of the game which fixes some bugs. Please update the game if you have the Nintendo Switch version!

For the longest time, fans have been asking for a PlayStation® release of Touhou Luna Nights, but every time we’ve had to give the disappointing answer, “Sorry, we don’t have plans for a PS release right now.”

To everyone who’s ever asked for a PS release over the years… Thank you so much for waiting. We’re finally officially releasing a PS version of the game. You can say this game is Team Ladybug’s “origin”, and we hope that more players can enjoy this game which has a special place in our heart. Even if you’ve already played the game before, you can always give it another go on the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5!

What could Remilia’s end game be…?
Touhou Luna Nights is an exploration-focused 2D action title from indie development studio Team Ladybug which has garnered over 10,000 Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam.

The protagonist is a recurring Touhou Project character, Sakuya Izayoi. Remilia Scarlet, head vampire of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, sends her maid Sakuya Izayoi with no warning to a world much like Gensokyo, but not quite. With no choice but to search for a way out of this strange world of Luna Nights, Sakuya begins her journey.
The action in this title is heavily based around Sakuya’s inherent ability to stop time and her skills with throwing knives, all expressed through stunning sprite animations. Aside from this there is the Touhou staple Graze system where you can avoid enemy attacks just in time to restore HP and MP and promote an exhilarating style of gameplay.

Standing in Sakuya’s way include the protagonist of Touhou herself, Reimu Hakurei, Marisa Kirisame, Remilia and her sister Flandre Scarlet, among other popular Touhou characters. Enjoy the beautiful pixel spritework and animation by Team Ladybug in flashy, thrilling boss battles.
