Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain (SIE Spain) and Aeternum Game Studio are pleased that the 2D hand-drawn metroidvania “Aeterna Noctis” will release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on December 15th.

To celebrate this announcement, the studio has just released a new gameplay trailer that you can check below these lines.

In this new trailer, players will be able to witness how challenging platforms and hectic combats are the core of a “pure Metroidvania experience”. The video also showcases all the different mechanics and options that players will have to overcome enemies and puzzles, from teleportation to double jumps and dashes.

Aeterna Noctis, players will journey through 16 different levels, each of them with its own flair, facing more than 100 different enemies, defeating more than 20 powerful final bosses (some of them are highlighted in this new trailer) and overcoming all kinds of challenging puzzles. This 2D metroidvania will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in December 15th.

Despite having 16 levels, the devs at Aeternum Game Studios remind that the footage shown in this new trailer is just a small glimpse of all the content the game will have when it releases later this year. Some NPCs featured in the new trailer will unlock secondary missions that will explore the lore of Aeterna Noctis world as well as expanding the main quest.

Developed as part of the PlayStation®Talents project, Aeterna Noctis tells the story of the King of Darkness and the Queen of Light. They are both cursed to fight each other eternally and even death could not free them from their destiny since they have been granted the gift of immortality. Players will experience this never-ending conflict through 16 challenging levels.
