Little over a month after its debut on console and PC, Tate Multimedia has confirmed “Kao the Kangaroo” is now playable on Valve’s Steam Deck, with fresh free DLC also having launch on the Steam version.

Kao the Kangaroo is one of 1,736 Steam Deck verified games, meaning not only does it run on the handheld, it has been specifically designed for it. As such, a fresh audience will be able to take on Kao’s biggest adventure yet, with our favourite kangaroo embarking on a journey to find his missing sister and solve the mystery of just what happened to his long-lost father.

The aforementioned free Summer Drip DLC adds two costumes to Kao’s wardrobe – that’s four new pieces players can now mix and match to create their own look! Said DLC will also follow on all other platforms at a later date.

“We’re excited that, so soon after the game’s initial launch on console and PC, Steam Deck players can now also take Kao the Kangaroo on ,” says Kaja Borowko, Head of Studio.

“The reaction has been so positive and, along with the DLC already available – and future DLC as laid out official Kao Road Map – we’re happy to confirm Kao has a bright future ahead.”

Kao the Kangaroo sees the marvelous marsupial pick up his famous magical boxing gloves and travel the world confronting famous fighting masters who are under the influence of disturbing, dark power.

Punching a path through his adversaries, Kao will pummel his way to glory within a colourful and vibrant world, alive with activity and visual flair. Lurking behind the bold and beautiful environments, however, lies a whole other world filled with mystery, uncontrollable power, and chaos better known as the Eternal World. Its secrets are now in Kao’s hands, granting him brand-new powers… but at what cost?
