Retro-indie games publisher Bitmap Soft and developer Jake Macher have announced that “Sofia the Witch: Curse of the Monster Moon“, a fun and addictive puzzle game for Game Boy Color, is now available on their store at £50.00.

The preorder for Sofia the Witch: Curse of the Monster Moon will run for approximately four weeks starting October 24, with shipping expected two weeks after the preorder period ends.

Sofia the Witch: Curse of the Monster Moon is an engaging puzzle game where every 500 years, a lunar eclipse brings forth the Monster Moon, turning animals into monsters. Players take on the role of Sofia, a young witch, as she embarks on a quest to break the curse and save her friends.

In the game, players can use two spells—Transmogrification (when Sofia is red) to turn monsters back into friends, and Bubble Bounce (when she is blue) to create bouncing bubbles. The game will be available in two editions: a Standard Edition, inspired by classic collectible Game Boy games, and a Limited Collector’s Edition.

The Limited Collector’s Edition features a professionally designed spellbinding box, alternative game box artwork, an acrylic standee of Sofia, 18 collector character cards, a double-sided A3 poster, an A5 art book, a Sofia pin badge, a character sticker sheet, a red game cartridge shell, and a collector’s certification.

In Sofia the Witch: Curse of the Monster Moon, players explore the four distinct lands of Luna Haven—Forest, Water, Desert, and Cloud Land—each with unique challenges and secrets. The game features a sacred Moonwell linked to moonstones, various mini-games, hidden bosses, and multiple endings based on players’ actions.

The game is speedrunner-friendly, allowing players to skip tutorials and cutscenes. Players can enjoy the game in browsers, on mobile devices, or as a downloadable ROM for Game Boy Color, Analogue Pocket, or the emulation player of your choice.
