Press release:
Madrid, Spain. March 4, 2026.
Publisher Dojo System and developer Disaster Games have announced that Morkull: Ascend to the Gods will launch on April 2, 2026, on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo platforms.
Following its appearance at Steam Next Fest, where players were able to experience the first demo of the game, Morkull: Ascend to the Gods prepares to bring its distinctive take on the action genre to players worldwide.
In the game, players take control of Morkull, the charismatic God of Death and Darkness. Fully aware that he exists inside a video game, Morkull constantly breaks the fourth wall while guiding players through a succession of intense boss battles against the powerful gods and creatures of the Midaldus realm.
Unlike traditional progression systems, Morkull: Ascend to the Gods focuses on a boss-driven structure, where each encounter is designed as a unique test of skill, reflexes and mastery.
A boss-rush experience built around skill
Players will unlock abilities, charms and combat upgrades to build their own approach before each battle. However, victory is never guaranteed.
Every encounter in Morkull: Ascend to the Gods has been carefully designed to reward learning and adaptation. Each boss introduces new patterns, mechanics and phases that push players to refine their strategy and improve their timing.
And yes — players should expect to fail more than once.
A world drawn frame by frame
Just like its predecessor, the game features fully hand-drawn animation created frame by frame, bringing fluidity and personality to each character and enemy.
The stylized art direction expands the world first introduced in Morkull: Ragast’s Rage, allowing players to explore new locations across the Kingdom of Midaldus, a realm filled with strange gods, dangerous creatures and plenty of opportunities for Morkull to remind everyone who is really in charge.
Humor, chaos and a god with attitude
Morkull’s personality remains at the center of the experience. Through constant fourth-wall breaks, sarcastic commentary and references to pop culture and gaming itself, the game maintains a tone that mixes intense combat with irreverent humor.
It’s less like facing the end of the world — and more like having the God of Death sitting next to you while you play.
Morkull featured on Dojo Talks
Following its participation in Steam Next Fest, Morkull: Ascend to the Gods has also been featured in the latest episode of Dojo Talks, the Dojo System podcast focused on the design, development and strategy behind independent games.
In this episode, Alejandro Letosa (Disaster Games) joins the Dojo System team to discuss the origins of the project, the game’s boss-driven design philosophy and the creative decisions behind the world of Midaldus and its charismatic protagonist, Morkull.
