The independent video games developer Divergent Realities today announced with great thrill and happiness that their card collecting/adventure game “Cards & Tankards” is now available for PC via Steam.

Previously only available on VR platforms, this new launch ensures that all are welcome to join in the merry revelry of this social card battler!

Cards & Tankards is the first social collectible card game available on both PC and in VR. Designed to invoke the feeling of collecting and battling custom decks at a local game store – with a high fantasy twist – Cards & Tankards gives players the opportunity to meet up and take on a community of players from the comfort of their own home.

It’s a scene we’re all too familiar with: from the dark and rainy outdoors, a hooded adventurer enters into a lively tavern filled with music and laughter. Whatever an adventurer is searching for, be it information, work, or the location of the nearest cursed relic, they can always be coaxed into pausing their quest and joining a couple rounds of a card game, and what better respite than Cards & Tankards?

Players will find themselves in the privacy of their own room in Cards & Tankards’ tavern, where they can organize their deck, play some practice games, and decorate their room to their liking. Once they’re ready, players can step out into the cosy social environment of the main tavern and join other adventurers online, making friends (or enemies) over a game. Players are free to explore the tavern to find other patrons to challenge, or just grab a seat and watch a game unfold.

Players can build their decks around a variety of factions like the Dungeon Masters who focus on powerful spells to buff themselves or destroy their opponents, or the Monsters Rights Association that focus on aggression and flooding the field with monsters.

Players will enjoy an enthusiastic multiplayer atmosphere where they can swap strategies and make friends in the game’s growing community. Players can pull up a chair and watch as their monsters and spells turn from simple cards into living creatures and actual magic on the table before them. Best of all, the game is completely free to play on both PC via Steam and VR via SteamVR and Applab.
