Press release:
[October 29, 2026 ] Saturday mornings used to mean a bowl of cereal, a spot on the rug, and a lineup of animal heroes flying into trouble. As of today, they can mean Air Hares on the Nintendo Switch. The carrot-farming bullet hell from husband-and-wife studio Wondoro is out now on Nintendo Switch for $4.99 USD, published by indie.io, with the full Hare Force Edition update and a five-pilot co-op squadron included from day one.
Tim and Megan Bungeroth grew up with Saturday morning cartoons, and Air Hares wears the influence openly. Captain Rabbo Sunskipper is a bunny ace in flight goggles; her wingman, Dirk Doggo, is a stubborn pup who is a softie underneath; and the villains are the Gale Gang, a flock of falcon thugs determined to rule the skies over Winrose. The game builds on the classic bullet hell by making the mission about growth: players fly over Winrose’s barren farmland, seeding carrot fields to bring it back to life while fending off falcon attacks. Before it was ever a game, Tim wrote Rabbo’s adventures as episodic scripts, and the world has since grown into a digital comic series. That shows in every level, which plays out like an episode with its own crisis to solve: three carrot patches to seed and water and a sky full of birds trying to stop it.
It is also a game built around family. Tim and Megan made Air Hares while hoping to start one of their own, choosing a full harvest as the win condition for their shooter. Their rescue dog Arthur became the model for Dirk Doggo along the way. Today, the scene they pictured from the start is real: two parents on the couch with their child, flying the same level together.
That is where co-op does its best work. With five pilots to choose from, players can split the job however they like. A younger player can focus on watering the fields while a partner handles the falcons, and Dirk Doggo can call every bird on screen toward himself to give a teammate room. Linnie Lightfoote, Betty Bunting and Candie Clayton each bring their own strengths to the squadron, from a longer barrel roll to steadier handling in crosswinds and a triple parry shot. Air Hares is built for kids and adults to pick up together, with high scoreboards and Carrot Achievements on every level for players who want to chase a perfect run.
Air Hares is available now on the Nintendo Switch for $4.99 USD. The Steam version, including the Hare Force Edition update, is available through Steam and all the ways to play can be found on the indie.io storefront.
Wondoro is the independent studio of husband-and-wife team Tim and Megan Bungeroth. Tim, a playwright and writer, created the world of Winrose and its squadron of bunny pilots, and the couple has expanded it from a video game into a comic book series. Working with freelance programmers, artists, and musicians, Wondoro released Air Hares on Steam in January 2026 alongside its first digital comic, Floppy Flights of Fancy.
