Press release:
22 April 2024.
The Paris -based (France) indie games publisher and developer Firesquid  and Chippendale-based (Australia) indie games developer Chaos Theory Games, today announced with great happiness and thrill that their charming underwater strategy game “Crab God“,  is coming to PC (via Steam) on June 20th, 2024.

Currently taking part in Steam’s Earth Appreciation Festival, the tactical gardening side-scroller will give players the opportunity to have a real life impact on the oceans around them as they guide their Crablings through stages of an increasingly challenging underwater migration. Make waves, praise the claw!

Set deep down on the seabed, Crab God is a tactical-yet-wholesome game centred around an all-powerful deity and a plethora of claw-abiding worshipers. Assuming the role of their god, players must grow their Crabling colony and safely lead them across the dangerous depths of the ocean.

Similar to other management games, Crablings must perform daily duties to ensure success, such as foraging, farming and, of course, worshiping. However, life for the Crablings is rarely simple, with other sea creatures attacking them, stealing their food and destroying their ecosystem, thus preventing their progress. Their tiny eyestalks look up to you as their leader to guide them through.

Crab God provides players with an opportunity to make a difference beyond their own little crab family. Having integrated dots.eco, in-game actions have a direct impact on the real world, helping to clean up our oceans and protect aquatic life.

The developers, Chaos Theory Games, are dedicated to creating games that enact positive change and Crab God is no exception. Players can learn about aquatic wildlife and habitats as they play, discovering new flora and fauna, all while revelling in the knowledge that they’re doing their bit for the planet from the comfort of their computer.

While players will be able to get a taste of the snappy new title at Steam NextFest in June, those who’d like to get their claws on it earlier are invited to take part in the game’s public playtest next month. An early build of the game will also be available for press and content creators to preview ahead of Steam NextFest.

Australia-based developers Chaos Theory Games look forward to seeing the public’s initial reaction to Crab God, saying:

“We are thrilled to finally announce the launch date and tell everyone that they will soon be able to dive into the wonderful world of Crab God! We have been working on the game for what feels like a very long time and we can’t wait to see players fall in love with the world we have created and contribute to real-world conservation by playing.”

Crab God will be launching on PC via Steam on 20th June 2024. Players can also find out more about the game this week during Steam’s Earth Appreciation Fest.
