Press release:
The Netherlands – [November 22nd 2021].
The Holland-based video game publisher and indie games developer 2Awesome Studio are today very happy and proud to announce that the cool-looking indie battle arena shooter “AK-xolotl” has just joined 2Awesome Studio as a full in-house project, and that its originally solo developer, Daniel Piqueras, has also officially joined the studio.
AK-xolotl is a top-down arcade battle shooter featuring the cutest amphibian. You play as an axolotl with an AK (duh!) that goes on a rampage, shooting down their next meal.
You face off against increasingly chaotic waves of walking preys, with the aid of powerful weaponry and abilities. Hunt down your meal and feed the baby axolotl who look insanely bad-ass with a gun, in both single-player and up to 4 players co-op modes.
The game has received a lot of positive attention ever since it was announced, being showcased in many industry events such as Gamescom and Guerilla Collective’s Summer of Gaming.
Originally planned to release in 2021, AK-xolotl will now have its launch postponed to 2022, as it becomes a more ambitious project with new features and additions coming its way.
Daniel Piqueras, creator and originally solo developer of the game, shares his thoughts about joining 2Awesome:
“I’m really honored to join the 2Awesome family and really happy to receive this amount of support. To have my silly idea step up from a small-solo-dev project to a professional team project is a dream come true and It will give AK-xolotl the resources needed to create the best game possible.”
The Pondcast
The news was first shared over at 2Awesome’s Twitch channel, on a new segment called The Pondcast, a bi-monthly show that will feature the latest AK-xolotl news, updates, exclusive team interviews, gameplay sessions, and much more.
You can watch the first episode, that features some game sneak peeks, here.
