Press release:
Cambridge, United Kingdom – May 1, 2025.
The Washington-based (the US) indie games publisher Outersloth and Brighton-based (the UK) solo indie games develeper Nullpointer Games, are today very glad and excited to announce that their cosmic horror/card/RPG, “The Horror at Highrook”, is now available for PC via Steam, priced £15.49 / $19.99 / €18.49.

An additional 10% discount is available to those who purchase the game during the first two weeks of launch.

The game has also been selected to participate in the prestigious LudoNarraCon festival, which begins today and concludes on May 5.

A stunningly atmospheric new Launch Trailer invites players to pierce the silence of the forsaken Highrook manor; introducing the varied cast of occult investigators whose sanity will begin to crumble the moment their feet cross the threshold, coming face-to-face with demons most foul. Only by tightly clutching to tattered shreds of reason will they hope to endure the horrors therein.

A haunting puzzlebox that refuses to conform to genre conventions, The Horror at Highrook draws inspiration from chilling gothic literature, pulpy cosmic horror tales, enrapturing tabletop titles and cunning card games – resulting in a unique experience which feels like a digital adaptation of a lost, unreleased and cursed board game.

Players will lead a team of occult investigators into the dark, yawning maw of the titular Highrook Manor in search of the Ackerons – a noble family, who following rumours of dark pacts and shadowy rituals, have now vanished without a trace. As they explore the haunted estate grounds they will summon dark entities and craft powerful protections in a bid to uncover the fate of the missing family.

The Horror at Highrook offers deeply rewarding, puzzling and satisfying gameplay, tactile card manipulation, and an engrossing, enigmatic gothic-horror narrative that slowly unfurls before the player. As the cursed manor begins to unravel its secrets, its dark heart is brought to life with bold, eye-catching illustrations and deeply atmospheric animations – drawing the intrepid investigators further into the shadows of the grounds and realms beyond…
