Press release:
2 September 2021.
The US-based indie games publisher Hitcents and indie games developer HyperMegaPixel (a one-man studio) today announced with great excitement and delight that they have just launched a Kickstarter campaign alongside side an preview story demo for their upcoming exploration/life sim/RPG/sandbox adventure “Kokopa’s Atlas”.
HyperMegaPixel is delighted to also announce that Kokopa’s Atlas is confirmed for PC and Switch, with Xbox and Playstation firm goals for the game’s Kickstarter.
Available only via the fundraising page, the demo will allow players to explore the first few steps of Kokopa’s story.
Kokopa’s Atlas is a game all about discovery and exploration – with a flexible approach to gameplay. Players can terraform, build, design, craft and decorate in their own time – farming and constructing across lush green biomes and harsh desert land. This sandbox-style adventure also hosts a more structured story campaign, for players looking for more of a narrative experience – as Kokopa and Pollimero learn more about their new home, its residents, and its hidden mysteries.
It’s not easy being a space explorer, and adventuring doesn’t come without its risks! Alongside understanding (and sometimes battling!) the strange flora and wildlife, the planet’s secrets and treasures may catch the eye of more than just one tabby cat and his feathered pal…
Announced during Wholesome Direct 2021, Kokopa’s Atlas is now confirmed for PC and Switch, following the hopeful success of its Kickstarter campaign. Xbox and PlayStation support is planned via campaign stretch goals.
Rafael Martín, creator and developer of Kokopa’s Atlas, aims to bring a sense of wonder and play to his work. Regarding Kokopa’s journey, he said, “There are lots of great games out there that do a good job of providing players with a neat farming and/or building experience. I believe Kokopa’s Atlas achieves successfully to those same ends, but it goes a step beyond and really captures something magical.
Throughout the design and creation of the game, there have been careful discussions and meticulous planning centered around conveying this re-discovery of the joy of exploration that often gets lost in our youth.
The game is a chance to see and learn and explore and discover and nurture in a very innocent and enjoyably naïve way. As Kokopa and Pollimero uncover a new world together, filled with strange and wonderful things, I hope their journey brings you the same amount of whimsy and joy that we felt as kids, as we saw the world for the first time.”
The Kokopa’s Atlas demo can be accessed for free exclusively from the game’s Kickstarter page here. Players can also choose to back the game with their support – featuring a huge variety of rewards such as plushies, pins, artbooks, physical versions (courtesy of Tesura Games), and so much more.
About Kokopa’s Atlas
Embark on a journey to a fantastical unknown planet in this procedurally generated farm & crafting adventure! In Kokopa’s Atlas, you’ll be hopping into the boots of the brave (but clumsy) Kokopa — a wannabe galactic hero — just as his ship crash lands on a strange, undocumented land.
Join Kokopa & his Biodroid bird friend Pollimero on their journey to explore this new, uncharted planet. As you plot, design, build, and farm your way to a better life on this fertile world, you’ll also have to watch out for the dangers of being an intergalactic traveler! Can you keep your new home safe from cosmic pirates, the local wildlife, and the dangerous mysteries the wilderness holds?
