The Mérida-based (Yucatán, Mexico) indie games developer Dracma Studios are today very excited and happy to announce that their dynamic 2.5D metroidvania “Candle Knight“, is coming to PC via Steam on May 31st, 2023.

Having started development back in 2019, the launch is the culmination of Dracma’s hard work refining and polishing their labor of love over the past three years.

Set against the backdrop of a dark, foreboding castle, players control Candle Knight, a unique hero driven by the power of a powerful flame. With a candle atop their helmet, Candle Knight will illuminate even the darkest corners of the castle, as they fight the dangerous monsters lurking within. Wielding the unique power of the flame, players must discover secrets scattered throughout the castle and overcome the darkness lying at its heart.

Candle Knight mixes action, platforming and puzzle-solving in an riveting adventure inspired by classic metroidvania titles. The game’s unique Ignis dynamic difficulty system provides a distinctive take on the genre by shifting the experience around the player, adapting the challenge level as they progress through the castle.

Players can further kindle the power of the flame by unlocking new abilities that improve Candle Knight’s skill and power in fights. It is only through powering up that players can hope to tackle the furthest depths of the castle, as each additional ability unlocks previously inaccessible areas.

Featuring a breathtaking 2.5D visual style. Candle Knight is brimming with distinctive character and enemy designs, breathtaking vistas and impressive particle effects. Every element of the game is further brought to life by a light and shadow system that sits at the heart of the Candle Knight’s story and overall visual direction.

The PC release of Candle Knight will be followed by console launches later this year, with further details to follow.

Candle Knight will be available globally on Steam from May 31st 2023, priced $14.99 / £12.99 / €14.99.
