The Cambridge-based independent games studio Late Night Games today announced with great delight and pride that their free-to-play dystopian text-based cyberpunk RPG “Cyberpunkdreams” is now finally available for PC (Windows and Linux) via Steam.

“Cyberpunkdreams” sets players loose on the dusty road to the chrome-plated heart of future Cincinatti in a massive, non-linear sci-fi RPG adventure.

What mission has drawn you to this place, and what will you sacrifice to complete it? Choices have consequences, and the city remembers.

What kind of person could survive the blighted plains and neon-lit streets of corporate Cincinnati? Through a web of interlinked story vignettes, players will carve out their own identity in cyberpunkdreams. Become an intimidating street tough, bristling with questionably-legal cyberware.

Navigate a web of corporate intrigue as a fast-talking social riser, or live in the shadows, extracting knowledge from the city with keen eyes and an array of hacking devices.

In development since 2013, cyberpunkdreams is set to launch with nearly two million words of branching, interactive prose. Players will explore thousands of interlinked story vignettes, filled with vivid characters who will remember how you helped or hurt them.

Small choices will snowball into life-threatening situations, and old favours can be cashed in when you need them most. Your characters will gain knowledge, scars, traumas and allies. Just try to keep your head above water – the city is a hungry beast, ready to swallow up the unwary.

Life in the city goes on. Through free content updates, Late Night Games will further expand cyberpunkdreams, opening up new parts of Cincinnati to explore, filled with new characters to interact with (or exploit) and new high-tech toys to tinker with. The story doesn’t end just because your mission is complete, and nobody can predict what chaos your choices will unleash in the months to come.

With a clean, accessible UI and the player’s needs and goals always visible, cyberpunkdreams aims to please veteran RPG min-maxers and newcomers to the genre alike. Your character is your own, from their clothes to their cybernetics and even their gender and sexuality, nothing is set in stone.

Navigate the challenges of the city and become a chameleon (or a chimera), changing your identity as you navigate the deadly, rain-slick streets to better blend in with each new crowd of characters, or to stand out and become the centre of attention.
