10 JUNE 2021.
The US-based indie games publisher Armor Games Studios and indie games developer Spare Parts Oasis, today announced with great delight and excitement that their enigmatic VR adventure game “A Rogue Escape” is now available on Oculus Quest, Rift, and SteamVR platforms.
To celebrate, Armor Games Studios is delighted to reveal a new launch trailer, providing a closer look at A Rogue Escape’s imposing steampunk mech setting.
A Rogue Escape invites players to don their VR headset and step inside the hulking multi-level cockpit of a Nauticrawl. With no knowledge of how to operate this mechanical beast, players must turn to clues left behind by former operators in order to figure out and master the inscrutable controls found in five distinct areas of the mech to pilot themselves to safety.
Recently awarded “Best XR/VR Game” at the Brazil Independent Games Festival 2021, A Rogue Escape delivers a beautifully constructed environment where exploration and experimentation is absolutely key.
A Rogue Escape is a reimagining of 2019’s critically acclaimed PC rogue-lite puzzle game Nauticrawl, which tasked players with commandeering the eponymous machine, by learning how to use its seemingly inscrutable control deck.
In contrast to Nauticrawl’s challenging and at times unforgiving gameplay, A Rogue Escape has been constructed from the ground up to deliver a fully explorable, atmospheric experience which more resembles an escape room than the original’s rogue-lite gameplay.
To bring A Rogue Escape’s gorgeous setting to life, Spare Parts Oasis partnered with VR development studio Sylphe Labs, who redesigned the Nauticrawl as a completely 3D inhabitable space.
Spare Parts Oasis’ Andrea Interguglielmi said “I hope people will enjoy diving into this experience to uncover the mysteries of this colossal machine, just as we enjoyed crafting all the intricacies that form the unique gameplay of A Rogue Escape. A game that stands at the intersection of escape room and cockpit-sim with dungeon crawling elements, is not something you experience every day in VR!”
A Rogue Escape launches today on the Oculus Store and via SteamVR, with compatibility for Oculus Quest and Rift platforms, HTC Vive, and Valve Index.
