The cyberspace-based indie games developer NoSleepGames are today very proud and excited to announce that their puzzle-based visual novel “Annie and the AI“, is coming to PC via Steam in February 2023.

Featuring actress Katy Bentz (Life is Strange: Before The Storm, Life is Strange: True Colours), Annie and the AI is an emotional and existential story about artificial intelligence, and the bond between creator and creation.

Players will step into the processing unit of a newly-born artificial intelligence – solving puzzles to help it to learn, grow, and – most importantly, question. As the AI gains understanding of the world it finds itself in, players will discover more about its creator, Annie, and her own very personal struggles.

Struggling to connect with those around her, Annie threw herself into her work after her mother walked out on the family. Her natural affinity for technology allowed her to develop a new artificial intelligence all by herself. Now awake, curious, and identifying itself as Esme, the AI is eager to learn, but will Annie be able to teach?

Through conversations between Annie and Esme, Players will be presented with puzzles inside Esme’s mind that they must solve in order to foster the AI’s understanding of the world surrounding it, as well as its creator Annie. Helping Esme to grow and develop, players will uncover a bond like no other as creator and creation work together to understand them.

Life is Strange series actress Katy Bentz brings an unmatched weight and depth to the character of Annie as she struggles to find her place in the world and to understand Esme.

Through engaging puzzles and sensitive storytelling, Annie and the AI will expose players to a story that asks difficult questions about family, love, and life. Can an artificial intelligence truly understand what it means to be human, or grasp the concept of a soul?

Annie and the AI is currently slated for release in February 2023 and can be wishlisted now on Steam.

About Annie and the AI
Set in the late 2020’s, players will follow Annie, a shut-in programmer who spends most of her time working on her personal projects, taking care of her father, and bending to the whims of her authoritative sisters.

Taking the role of Esme, an AI that Annie has been developing in her spare time, players will help Esme to learn by solving visual puzzles involving pattern and emotional matching of photos sourced from Annie’s life.

A full storytelling experience containing over 150 hand drawn illustrations, an original soundtrack, and talented voice-acting led by Katy Bentz of the BAFTA winning series Life is Strange.
