The Bordeaux-based (France) indie games developer Hectiq are today very happy and excited to announce that their fast-paced multiplayer brawler “Los Pingheros“, is kicking-off its beta phase for PC via Steam this June (the full version of the game is said to launch sometime in 2024).

Ultimate Penguin Snowdown – Join an exhilarating multiplayer action for memorable frenzied battles, playable with up to 8 players online and locally. Dive into the vibrant colors of Mexico, draped in a unique snowy mantle, and join the action alone or with your friends.

Intense Brawl Modes – Prepare yourself for thrilling and diverse confrontations across a variety of modes, where only the most cunning penguins emerge victorious:

Carnaval: This new mode empowers you to turbocharge your Pinghero with additional skills, ensuring an ever-escalating action and strategy.
Score Spree: Secure victory by dominating the scoreboard within the time limit.
The Last Pinghero: Beware, your lives are limited and only the last penguin standing will be declared the overall winner.

Secret Penguin Techniques – Access to the penguin’s top survival tricks: the ultimate slide, the renowned penguin spinning top, and the celebrated “Made in Penguin” chokeslam, where your opponent definitely won’t be pretending.

Outsmart Your Opponents – Destroy the cacti to uncover power-ups. Be smart on how you use them! Keep an eye on the luchador mask that enrages your penguin, and game-changing items like the magic snowflake to freeze all other penguins to the bone.

The Mexican Dressing Room – Customize your penguins to reflect your unique style. As you progress, you unlock new clothing, hats, and color palettes.

You are not alone – Watch out for your webbed feet ! In Mexico, you won’t be alone. Slide in the wrong place and you might get bitten.

Players will have a first taste of Los Pingheros while also being able to share their feedback with the studio team thank to the closed beta available on Steam, starting in June 2024. To participate, visit the game’s Steam page and click on the “Request Access” button. A selected group of players will be granted access and will receive a Steam email containing download instructions.

Hectiq is a new video game development studio established in early 2023, in Bordeaux, France.

The 4 founders are industry veterans who met while working on Microsoft Flight Simulator at Asobo Studio (91% Metacritic and +10 millions players). The team now consists of 9 members.

Hectiq was created with the aim of developing unique and captivating games across various genres, focusing on creativity, playability, and technical innovation.

Hectiq is currently working on its first game: Los Pingheros, a snowball fight game with penguins in Mexico.
