Press release:
London, UK – October 18th 2023.
The London-based (the UK) indie games publisher PLA Studios and indie games developer Giant Flame, are today very proud and happy to announce that they have just released the full version (v1.0) of their WW2-themed turn-based/platoon-level tactical game “The Troop” (the full version of the game is available right now for PC via Steam).
“The Troop” is rolling out of its Early Access period with a new arsenal of features, including three new campaigns for players to experience – following the adventures of the 21st Panzer Division, the SS Panzer Division and the 31st Tank Brigade.
The game has attracted a dedicated following among its fans, who have been instrumental to the development of the game. In fact, the fans have been so crucial to the development of The Troop that some of the powerful in-game ace units are named after the game’s most dedicated supporters.
The Troop embraces the best traditions of classic tabletop war gaming combined with the interactivity and excitement the digital format affords. You have complete control over your units’ actions; tanks will not expose their weak side armour with unexpected pathing, hidden guns will not reveal their positions by firing prematurely, infantry will not flee inexplicably when victory is a few heroic paces away. You are free to take your time… but any mistakes are yours and yours alone!
Tom Page, Studio Director, PLA Studios, said:
“It’s great to be able to bring the complete feature set and all 4 campaigns to players. We feel like they really show the game at its best and build upon everything the community has helped us shape over the past 2 years.”
Game Features:
Story mode: Follow the narrative of the campaign from D-Day, playing as a range of different units (Commonwealth and German) in different situations as history plays out across Normandy.
Skirmish mode: Choose your scenario, choose your side, choose your force, set your enemy restrictions… Play. What will the enemy bring to the fight and what tactics will they use? You’ll have to wait and see, but it will not be the same as last time! Endless replayability.
Campaign mode: In addition to the previously-released campaign following the exploits of the 8th Armoured Brigade, three new campaigns have been added for the full release of The Troop: 21st Panzer Division, SS Panzer Division, 31st Tank Brigade.
Unpredictable AI: Face off against an AI opponent that adapts and varies its strategies with each replay, making every battle a unique challenge.
Tailored Difficulty: The Troop doesn’t have one difficulty setting. Players can adjust various features, rules, and information settings to create the most enjoyable and challenging experience.
The full release of The Troop is now available to purchase on PC via Steam.
