Sami “SmoothBrainDev” Mäläskä, game’s Finland-based solo developer, firmly believes in the pivotal role of the fun factor: only a game that’s fun to develop can be fun for the audience to play.

Choosing to keep the teadium out of the creation process resulted in radical design choices. The gameplay mechanics, the level design, the story, and the visuals were distilled down to their purest form that best serves the purpose of keeping the player excited, entertained, and on the edge of their seat.

“INCISION” recaptures a lot of what made Quake and Quake 2 so great and hits the bullseye for the players who appreciate the modern resurgence of the “retro shooter”. But the game is much more than a homage to the classics. Much like the ever-popular Dusk it uses the same box of retro-colored crayons to paint its very own gritty, disturbing picture.

WHAT MAKES INCISION SPECIAL?
INCISION assaults the player’s senses with a disturbing vision of the world where something goes terribly wrong with the fabric of reality itself. A mysterious mass of living flesh and metal spreads through the world twisting everything in its wake. This nightmare setting is being complimented by an exceptional industrial soundtrack composed by Frédérick “INI” Chicoine.

The game releases in Steam Early Access under the publishing label of Hyperstrange, the Warsaw-based indie development and publishing studio that brought us such games as POSTAL: Brain Damaged, Blood West, or Jupiter Hell. The first chapter of this strictly single-player shooter experience offers around 4-5 hours of challenge, action, and horror.

The game’s launch coincides with the retro shooter fan fest, Realms Deep, bringing the game’s regular $14.99 price down by a 15% discount. Owners of such staple “boomer shooter” titles as the aforementioned Dusk, POSTAL: Brain Damaged, as well as Nightmare Reaper, Hedon, Project Warlock and more, can get additional discounts purchasing INCISION through “complete your collection” bundles.
