The Genoa-based (Italy) indie games developer Horns Level Up Games are today very happy and excited to announce that their hand-drawn 2D puzzle adventure “Spirits of Baciu: The Deception“, is coming to PC via Steam in 2024.

After releasing a successful free prologue on that platform, the studio is getting ready to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund the full game.

Spirits of Baciu tells the story of a little cat-like spirit set in the Hoia Baciu Forest, a paranormal hotspot where strange things happen. You can check Spirits of Baciu: Prologue’s trailer below:

ABOUT THE GAME
In Spirits of Baciu, you wake up as The Lost One, a cat-like spirit in the middle of the woods not knowing how and when you got there. Explore the forest, interact with the environment, talk to spirits to collect clues and other objects and listen to the environment, as its inhabitants will help you along the way. This hand-drawn 2D point & click platforming adventure will challenge players to solve riddles and puzzles while paying close attention to the sounds of the forest, which may prove crucial to solve some puzzles.

KEY FEATURES
Explore the mysterious forest of Hoia Baciu to discover why and when you arrived there.
Talk to the forest’s inhabitants and listen closely to your environment to gather clues and hints that will let you solve puzzles along the way. Spirits of Baciu: The Deception also features platforming sections.
Enjoy a beautiful 2D hand-drawn environment that tries to capture the essence of an eerie place.
Play the free prologue on Steam if you want a sneak peek at what the full adventure will feature. The prologue is an introductory chapter independent from the full game but the studio encourages players to complete it to get the full experience.

ABOUT HORNS LEVEL UP
Horns Level Up is an independent studio based in Genoa, Italy and funded in 2020. The studio is formed by two people: Keepingfaka, a composer and developer, and Mihldkae, artist and developer. Both of them share their love for old-school games, dreamlike adventures, puzzles and forests. Fun fact: Mihldkae’s cat was the main inspiration for Spirits of Baciu: The Deception main character. The studio released Spirits of Baciu: Prologue for free on Steam and Itch.io in 2022.
