The China-based video game publisher WhisperGames and indie games developer Topchan Games are today very pleased and happy to announce that their horror-themed visual novel/adventure game “The Shadow You” is now available for PC via Steam.

“The Shadow You” combines together a visual novel and adventure-style gameplay in which two completely different realities and three storylines combine and the player needs to learn why.

Meet Ophelia and Kiel, a couple who bumped into each other in a video game and became a couple in real life. When their car breaks down on the road one night, their mysterious adventure begins and the player will decide what happens next by choosing actions that result in multiple endings.

Ophelia and Kiel fight together in a MMORPG and try to build a relationship in real life. At the same time, an unnamed girl tries to escape a grim and dangerous world of Gloom. The player takes on roles of different characters to attempt to delve deep into their minds and souls to understand their hidden motives and desires and thus to understand the human nature.

A unique visual style and 2D graphics blend Western and Asian art techniques to combine drama and horror creating an intense atmosphere of the game. The meticulous mixture of sounds, post-processing effects and visuals results in a unique, immersive experience.
Experience the usual life of various characters in bright and cheerful atmosphere of the real world and then jump into Gloom – a place out of time and space filled with mysteries and horrors. Watch as the two realities get closer to each other and meet inhabitants of both worlds to understand what is happening.
A complex story with an internal meaning, deeper than it might look at the first glance, that depending on players choices might have one of three very different outcomes.
The Shadow You is a visual novel combined with an adventure game in which the player takes control of the main characters – one at a time depending on the part of the story – and interacts with various locations, items and other characters, chooses dialog options and solves puzzles.
