Press release:
OLYMPIA, Wash. — May 10, 2020.
The US-based indie games developer Element 115 today announce with great joy and excitement that their hypnotic twin-stick shooter “Journey To Moonray” (which is the exciting prequel to Element 115’s upcoming action-rpg “Moonray“) is coming to PC (Windows) via Steam Early Access in Q4 2021.
Furthermore, Element 115 has also just announced that “Journey To Moonray” is set for a release to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles as well (the release has been set to Q1 next year, 2022).
Journey to Moonray depicts the voyage through hyperspace on the way to the planet where upcoming Souls-like hack-and-slash Moonray takes place. Set forth in Element 115’s shared surreal universe ahead of Moonray’s Summer 2022 PC launch and subsequent Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 release.
Dash through 40 gorgeous dynamic levels available at the start of Journey to Moonray’s Early Access. Enemies, bosses, bullets, and bombs all disturb the cosmic liquids of the battlefield to create a striking visual treat. Plunge into wave after wave of enemies amidst 700 high-tech fluid shaders and unlock the ability to customize the space shooter with your favorite liquid looks.
Designed to take full advantage of the latest GPU technologies and power, Journey to Moonray offers beautiful shaders built on fluid physics, each generated from a blend of liquid flow mechanics and models of random patterns occurring in nature such as how spots form on a leopard’s fur. Combined with real-time gameplay input from battles, the result is a responsive feast for the eyes.
Approach the visual banquet table with four game modes available at the start of Early Access. Reach a target score within a set time limit in Deadline, or within a limited number of lives in Survival mode. Rack up points while battling waves in Traversal to hit a target score by the end of the level. Take on extra deadly enemies in Boss mode, dealing with the toughest challenges before time runs out.
“Journey to Moonray rewards fans of classic twin-stick shooters with familiar modes and gameplay while upping the graphical ante to unprecedented levels using everything we’ve learned working on Moonray,” said Rodrigo Etcheto, founder, Element 115. “We hope everyone waiting for our Souls-like will enjoy this peek into the visual delights ahead.”
Additional bosses and game modes will be added between the start of Steam Early Access and the v1.0 as well as the simultaneous console launches. The number of shaders will double to around 1,400 by the Q1 2022 release. Co-op mode is planned for a post-launch update.
Journey to Moonray releases later this year on PC via Steam with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X coming 2022. The game will debut with support for English, Russian, Chinese, German, French, Spanish, and Japanese.
