Press release:
Brussels, 25 JUNE 2026 – Small indie studio ZAMARKAND from Belgium reveals its first game on Steam with a cinematic reveal trailer: Bon Voyage is an idle game where you conduct your steam train through 19th-century Belgium.

Choose your route and manage your train to deliver the best possible train service for your passengers. Bon Voyage is a calming desktop companion game in which gameplay occurs at stops, allowing you to focus on other things in life during travel.

“I started with the idea that as we get older, we play games less often than we would like to. Work or parenting often leaves us with little free time. By changing how a game can be played and slowing down its pace, players can still focus on their work or studies, while creating the right conditions for those with little spare time to rediscover the magic of games.” – Farhat Fazeli, Zamarkand.

In Bon Voyage, the player can focus on productive work thanks to the charming, side-scrolling landscapes, and take a well-deserved short break at the stations to play. There is something for all to enjoy, with watercolour aesthetics and the excitement of travel and discovery, as well as for train enthusiasts who want to build their own period-accurate steam train and play the role of a conductor who ensures all their passengers’ needs are met.

“With this game, I also hope to share a bit of Belgium’s history with the world. While researching, I was amazed by how profoundly the advent of steam and rail technology changed the lives of Belgians in the 19th Century. I think it’s really interesting, and I hope I can share some of it with players.”
– Farhat Fazeli, Zamarkand.

A demo is scheduled to depart the development station around Gamescom 2026 this summer, and the full release is planned for Spring 2027.

Key features

A relaxing idle game / study aid / work companion – Once you’ve chosen your route and dispatched your train, you can sit back and relax. The game lets you focus on other things while the train happily puffs through scenic landscapes. You can adjust the trip length to match your focus time, similar to a Pomodoro timer!
Plan the best itinerary to service your passengers – At each station, new passengers board with specific needs. Find the best route to meet multiple requests and earn a combo bonus rating for your excellent service.
Discover 19th-century Belgium and its people – Meet a variety of passengers from all walks of life and discover how steam and rail changed their lives, for better and for worse. Travel from station to station on an accurate map of 19th-century Belgium.
Watercolour art-style hand-painted on paper and digitised – We at ZAMARKAND choose to believe in the value of handmade craftsmanship.
