Press release:
March 15th.
The Ontario-based (Canada) indie games developer Hyperthought Games today announced with great pride and joy that their groundbreaking language learning gaming platform “Lingo Legend” is now available for iOS devices.
Staying motivated while you learn a new language is never easy, “Lingo Legend” solves the issue by integrating language exercises into exciting video games!
Lingo Legend launches with it’s flagship game Yorthwood – a card-battling RPG in which players must assemble a deck to battle monsters as they explore a vibrant world. In combat, players draw ability cards, but in order to play them must answer language challenges. Players will need to plan ahead and use strategy and tactics to defeat a host of enemies with specific strengths and weaknesses.
Yorthwood’s cleverly designed gameplay is guaranteed to keep learners excited for their next session. Outside of combat, players can take part in additional activities to aid in their quest like gathering resources or crafting weapons. As players learn, they will experience an expansive storyline told through quirky characters and quests. Players will unravel the secrets of Yorthwood as they become fluent in a new language!
Lingo Legend comes with monthly challenges, player ranks, and leaderboards to encourage friendly competition and reward accountability among learners. The platform’s ever-growing library of games will each provide unique and fresh challenges in which players can compete in a unified, community-driven experience.
Darien Morris, Co-Founder of Hyperthought Games said:
“We’re super excited for people to have the ability to play a game they love while learning a language and see the effect that has on their consistency and progress. Integrating learning into video games has so much potential and we can’t wait for people to start seeing those benefits with Lingo Legend. We’ve really only scratched the surface of what is to come.”
Lingo Legend is available now for free on iOS via the App Store, and is made possible with the support of Ontario Creates.
